VAMWorld 2.0

Just to repeat from my initial post in this thread, all of my photos are the 2nd S in STATES on a 1921-P.

We're now up to 107 coins that have maps. But that's still less than half of the 230 different VAMs currently known. As I did this project with my own coins, 8 different ones turned out to be so EDS that there were absolutely no cracks on either side. Later die state examples will likely be different.

I was looking through my 1921-P set for "Bean Bottom S" coins when I ran across this VAM 1BT Discovery Piece. I have no clue what is going on in the bottom loop of the 2nd S in STATES. No tablet. Just Photoshop, a mouse, and a 27" monitor.

Nothing makes you understand what the most common places for cracks are on 1921-Ds quite like drawing map after map.

I haven't been able to find this coin in either the Scribbles Guide or the Die Crack Break Guide. But before I dump it into the lap of messydesk I need to see if anyone here recognizes it. I also lobbied Ian for over a year about the consistent VAM attribution accuracy of VSS over NGC and PCGS, using coins that were currently running in GC auctions as evidence. I'm proud to have been a part of that chorus, and happy for Ian and Rae about the extra business it has brought them.

Total VAM 1U population registered at SSDC is 27 (breakdown shown below), which for a variety that is so large and so well known, strikes me as not very many.

Yeah, I'm not sure I have a handle on this one yet. I saw Photo 7 and thought of the parallel gouges on VAM 1BQ, but I don't think this is an exact match.

Same conclusion here Tom.
The gouges spacing on pix #7 is much wider, and it lacks the adjacent (to the right) pair of gouges that 1BQ has.

Photo #7 is not in the 1921-P D1 scribbles guide, which means there is a good chance it is a new discovery.

My suggestions is to get @messydesk to take a look, and if it is a new discovery coin get me, @fogie and @weth in a bidding frenzy for it.
