Re: 1884 VAM-3A
Adding CC to the date in your title would probably generate more views and comments. PCGS and NGC don't attribute this VAM. Why? PCGS by and large doesn't give a rat's behind about VAMs to begin with. I suspect they'd rather attribute fewer different VAMs, not more. NGC probably should attribute thi...

Re: 1882-o 38-b value
I don't have many MS64 sales in my database, but I'd say that in the current market $240 is too high:
1882-O 38B 64 NGC Mar-12 PP $250
1882-O 38B 64 PCGS Nov-15 E $175
1882-O 38B 64 ANACS Jan-22 E $145
1882-O 38B 64 PCGS Aug-21 E $112
1882-O 38B 64 NGC Mar-12 PP $250
1882-O 38B 64 PCGS Nov-15 E $175
1882-O 38B 64 ANACS Jan-22 E $145
1882-O 38B 64 PCGS Aug-21 E $112

odd stuff on this 1921-D
It seems like 1 out of every 2 1921-Ds I pick up these days are not shown in the die crack break and scribbles guides. Yesterday was a bad day, though; it was 2 out of 2. Any help would be most appreciated. My first thought was pitting, but maybe it's gouges? pitting TAT.jpg Strange gouges at O in D...

My reaction is 62 with a shot at 63. But there tends to be very little price difference between MS60 and 63.

finished my 1921 mint mark set!
Russ (twohawks) texted me a while back and said he just knew I didn't have one of these – and he was right! Thank you sir for completing my 1921 mint mark type set! 1921-CC LFCP obv.jpg 1921-CC LFCP rev.jpg It even has scribbles! Sort of. 1921-CC scribbles.jpg The master engraver struggled wit...

Re: 1921 Moran Dollar - VAM-49/49A?
Looks like VAM 49... doesn't appear to have the displaced field break above AME to be 49A, nor any cracks in/around NUM on the obverse.

Re: Anyone recognize this 79-S?
The strong polishing lines at the base of the UTFs should/will be an easy key PUP for this VAM, even in modest grades.

The reverse only lasted for 1000 copies.
These are fascinating details!
So it looks like there were only 1000 VAM 60s made?
If so, that would explain why they are so &@*%!! hard to find.

Re: PCGS Frustration
My Regular Service order (not economy) for crossovers was logged into the PCGS system on March 23, so I think it's been 69 business days of waiting so far. Sure makes the website's stated 50-day turnaround time look like a joke.

Re: 1878-cc Morgan with 140 deg CW rotated rev
Great coin Jeff! (I absolutely love it.) That is an unusually large amount of rotation; most of the examples I have seen were 75-90 degrees. These often come in Mint State grades; I recall seeing one many years ago in a PCGS MS67 holder. Yes it does have a premium -- a pretty significant one. My gue...
