Re: High grade Bunny coin

There are many 1921-Ps whose attributions are based upon the characteristics of stars, or written descriptions only, or finger feed gouges, or displaced field break judgement calls, or "two fer" discoveries that presume the existence of something, that I question the validity of. And as long as I'm ...

And the verdict is ..... guilty. I did this one and got it wrong. If you ever want it fixed, just toss it in with an order and note that I said this one was a freebie.

Would a special pedigree option be possible? Something like "J.R. Do-Over Limited Edition"?

I'd be interested in knowing the cert number off Dennis's VAM 1 holder.

The cert number is 6107745.

Re: High grade Bunny coin

That would be a huge mistake, considering VAM 44 has a D2 reverse.
But I do have the VAM 29A mistake here on my desk.

trying to vet another 1921-P D1

I've hit another 1921-P D1 reverse wall. This coin has plenty of scribbles, but several runs through the guide have failed... at least for me, despite there being several possibilities to look for in both scribbles zones and among the UTFs: scribbles 1 small.jpg scribbles 4 small.jpg There are no cr...

I added a note about the lines from the upper lip to the main 21-P page. It should make it easier to find in the future.
Can we get your great shot of the upper lip added to the scribbles page?

The request is officially out to anyone who has the skills to do that (not me).

It appears to be a very nice example of VAM 3HA1

Thank you Tom! 3HA1 it is indeed.
Leroy's super-tight scribbles plate image left out a lot of the things I was trying to find. I guess I should have gone through the scribbles guide at least a 5th time.

Well I'll be...
Mitch is right.

AND WE NEED A DIE CRACK BREAK MAP FOR VAM 3BB!!

Here's are photos of my much earlier die state VAM 3BB, which has no cracks at all on either side:

Re: Anyone (Dennis) recognize this 21-P

Let's see... 1. The coin has an obverse horizontal crack that goes cleanly between left stars 1 &2 instead of clipping or going into a star. 3FT2 is the only VAM I know with that characteristic. But it isn't a 3FT2 IMO. 2. That is a crack that Tees off and goes to the chin, right; it isn't a drag ma...

I think this is a new D2 1921-P

Possible new discovery submission guidelines have changed. One of the requirements is to post images ahead of time to see if anyone can make an existing attribution. That’s what this thread is for – to vet the coin before sending to John & John Esq. In a group of 35 coins I recently received I thoug...

Re: clueless about this 1921-S

It looks like the slab took it hard in the scribble zone. Can you polish it or at least smear some oil on it to make it easier to see? You're totally right about the slab being chewed up in that area; it looks like it was a practice tablet for workers doing scribbles. I did what polishing I could –...
