31 new 1921-D crack maps added
Thank you @fogie for uploading them to the die crack attribution guide.
Nothing makes you understand what the most common places for cracks are on 1921-Ds quite like drawing map after map.

Grey Sheet for 62 and 63 is $85 and $120, so you scored!
There's no VAM premium, though.

1921-D help needed
I haven't been able to find this coin in either the Scribbles Guide or the Die Crack Break Guide. But before I dump it into the lap of messydesk I need to see if anyone here recognizes it. Thanks for any help/suggestions. The scribbles are impressive, especially the ones outside the eagle's right le...

Re: is G.C. taking over?
I also lobbied Ian for over a year about the consistent VAM attribution accuracy of VSS over NGC and PCGS, using coins that were currently running in GC auctions as evidence. I'm proud to have been a part of that chorus, and happy for Ian and Rae about the extra business it has brought them.

Re: MS 62 1921 D Morgan VAM 1U?
Not easy in any grade.
Congrats!
Total VAM 1U population registered at SSDC is 27 (breakdown shown below), which for a variety that is so large and so well known, strikes me as not very many.

Same conclusion here Tom.
The gouges spacing on pix #7 is much wider, and it lacks the adjacent (to the right) pair of gouges that 1BQ has.

Re: 1921P D1 reverse Vam Help please
Photo #7 is not in the 1921-P D1 scribbles guide, which means there is a good chance it is a new discovery.
My suggestions is to get @messydesk to take a look, and if it is a new discovery coin get me, @fogie and @weth in a bidding frenzy for it.

is G.C. taking over?
When Heritage raised its buyer's fee to 20% several years ago, I had concerns there might be serious trickle down effects on consignors, who would see smaller net proceeds and would ultimately seek out other selling alternatives. It's taken longer than I expected. But when Heritage raised its minimu...

Re: guess which 1888-O
And now the question is... since we know what to look for between the eagle's legs, does another already-designated 1888-O VAM exist in a die state before the Scar Face's "beard" clashing and wonderful crack ever happened?

Dennis sure does take way nice pictures... are you sure he is using a scope? as in micro scope. I am not sure...Things change quickly in technology. Thanks I use a very sturdy copy stand, a better quality Nikon DSLR camera, a Nikon macro lens, two Nikon extension tubes, and a cable release. I shoot...

guess which 1888-O
I'll say right up front that it's very unlikely anyone will be able to identify this one. (A fellow board member who got an advance head's up said, "You're just being mean.") The point of this thread is to illustrate that interesting things – as in "significant enough for a VAM number" things – can ...
