The gouges next to the bow are secondary PUPs. The HUGE horizontal gouges just above the arrows in the upper tail feathers are the key diagnostic for this VAM.

Re: 1921 filled die morgan
With all filled letter varieties the degree of filling is incredibly important, so a photo of your coin would be exceedingly helpful.

Re: Positive Mis attribution stories wanted
I once bought a PCGS VF30 1903-S on eBay for less than Greysheet that had crappy photos and pretty significant toning on both sides. When it showed up in the mail it turned out, much to my surprise, to be a Micro-S. I thought it was undergraded so I sent it in for regrade, and it came back VF35. Dou...

I will get this taken care of! (But my photo posting wiz @fogie is on the road with his laptop, so it may take a few days.)

1921-D has me stumped
Lots of scribbles on this EDS-ish coin, but I can't find a match in the scribbles guide. Had to take a 2nd photo with a slightly ifferent light source angle to better show the shallow "arch" gouge indicated by the yellow arrow: 1921-D #1 scribbles1.jpg There are a few nice polishing lines on the obv...

John:
The three PCGS-graded Micro-O dates that are labeled 4, 5 and 3 could actually be something else, right?

Thanks Tom and John. Looks like I still need 2 of the 4... 3BQ2 and 3BQ4.

Re: 1921P potential duplicate listings
Trying hard to figure out what I have now between 4 coins, but 3BQ4 seems to be the only one I'm confident about ruling out. I have 2 coins with reverse file lines like crazy (which I had called VAM 81). Both have a diagonal line through the opening in D (along with cracks in the wreath and left rib...

HUGE bargain at Heritage last night
A PCGS MS62 1878 7/8TF attributed as VAM 44 (but is actually a 44A, and a very nice looking one IMO) sold last night for just $7,200 including buyer's premium. I emphasize "just", because the last MS62 that sold a year ago (also by Heritage) went for $19,800 and MS60s have been in the $7K-$9K range....

Re: another mystery 1921-S
messydesk John: I found something else that seems significant enough to merit consideration of an attribution – gouges at the eagle's throat – especially in conjunction with the Z-shaped scribbles/polishing lines, vertical line in ear, and lines at the top cotton leaf: throat gouges.jpg leaf lines....

Re: WTB 8tf, not so commons
All three of those are profoundly difficult coins. Other than public auctions -- which can easily be years apart -- it's not an understatement to say that you might get only one chance in your life to acquire a 14.17... and ditto for a 14.19.
