Re: And now for something different...

After I counted the TFs I was SO hoping it wasn't a 123 or 166.
Neat little pickup!

Re: 1921-P VAM 13A pix & question

Kurt: That's it! Thank you.
Now the next question is... is it also on VAM 13? I don't have one of those to be able to give an answer. :(

1921-P VAM 13A pix & question

Received this somewhat EDS coin today and noticed something that isn't on my other 13A (which is not EDS at all) – a polishing line that goes from the top of Liberty's cap and through the bottom loop of the S in PLURIBUS. Does anyone else have this feature on their coin? 82173173 scratch S.jpg 82173...

Re: 1878s VAM-77

Stay away from ungraded coins unless you know how to grade from poor pictures. Stay away from graded coins unless you know the history of what they sell for. Good luck with your hobby. This is wise advice that can't be emphasized strongly enough – and to which I would add, stay away from off-brand ...

'Pickin fishies

This unattributed NGC MS64 Buy-It-Now arrived over the weekend. Despite drab light gray toning on both sides (dipping would have helped so much), the extensive obverse and reverse die polishing caught my eye, which prompted a fish hunt. I have always been fascinated by the goldfish in the left rever...

The coin sold for just $103, I feel a bit sorry for the seller, auctions are a bit of a crap shoot.

I hope the feeling passes quickly... because it should. :D

Congratulations!
Yours is just the 5th example I have a sales history for, and is the lowest price price by far.

Very sad to hear about this! I'm crossing my fingers that your refund gets resolved quickly.
Were these all bought from a dealer?

1. So you're good with the VAM 116, then?
2. But I already sold you a VAM 6!
VAM 116 (has there been a new discovery?) isn't listed in the set, so I didn't know to include it in my want list.

VAM 6? Umm... I just checked my boxes for the third time, and I have no VAM 6.

Wow Dennis, I didn't know that you found a VAM-35B
That is a great coin.
Found it 3 years ago in a raw BU roll from the same local B&M shop where I got the VAM 44.
I'm pretty surprised that LVA rated it only R5.

1921-P want list

The list of reasons why no one should ever start a 1921-P Morgan date set begins with size: it currently consists of 447 different coins. Reason number two is several new discoveries are made each year, which means the set may never come to an end. Reason number three is the crazy number of differen...

Re: 1878-S VAM22

This is a VAM who sales price history is profoundly erratic and inconsistent. And only a handful have come up for sale in recent years. All I'm sure of is the PCGS-61 coin needs to have the VAM attribution put on the holder. 1878-S 22 62 PCGS Dec-13 H $1,175 1878-S 22 62 ANACS Feb-16 E $622 1878-S 2...

Re: 1896-S help needed

Well, PCGS did certify a combined 95 examples of the 1896, 1900, and 1902 Micro-O coins before it figured out they were counterfeit, and CAC put stickers on two of mine, so yes, I guess there is a chance!

Re: 1896-S help needed

Thanks for looking!
It's in a PCGS-40 holder with a CAC sticker, so an added mint mark seems extremely unlikely.

1896-S help needed

Despite there being only 10 VAMs for this date (so far), I'm really stumped with this coin. It's a crusty toned XF40, and the crusty/toned isn't making things any easier. I can't find any cracks anywhere. It's a near date with what looks like a very low S mint mark, a combination that makes identifi...
