Re: (2)- 1904-S VAM's

Have you verified that ICG can and will make VAM attributions on your two coins? Not all grading companies can/will attribute all of them. Rarity ratings on the VAMworld attribution pages are not VAMworld's, but rather Leroy Van Allen's. They were estimates at the time they were first made, they hav...

Re: 1921-p help needed please

I have held off joining this discussion due to the photos provided. There's an almost 'greasy' quality to them (or is it focus?) that makes them essentially impossible for me to make evaluations from. The E-S-O crack is very similar to a handful of known 1921-P VAMs, but all of them have other crack...

To be honest, if you want to sell those, send them to Great Collections. 10% buyer's fee and $10 seller fee for lots over $1000. I see no reason to list anything valued over $1000 on eBay.

I agree.

Re: 1878s VAM-62

I have a PCGS XF40. I would dread trying to replace it. There are 2 coins in my L.N. set that I hold out a trace of hope of one day upgrading. VAM 62 is not one of them. The price I paid probably felt painful at the time, but it has long since passed, and if I ever get a chance to buy another at the...

It's at the SSDC main page, under Archives >> VAMview Quarterly >> issue #9

There was a VAM-e on this variety several years ago (4/12/2014) showing 5 stages.

Thank you John!

However, several of the cracks I posted are not included in even the latest die state discussed in the article.

Re: 1888-O VAM 12A pixs & question

But my questions are: – is the crack from the S in states supposed to go all the way through the right wing and touch the denticle above D in UNITED? – Is the crack from BU in PLURIBUS supposed to almost touch the I in PLURIBUS? 24523976 6 crack IBU.jpg – Is there supposed to be a radial die crack o...

1888-O VAM 12A pixs & question

I have one of these in MS64 and it has the key VAM 12A diagnostics shown and/or discussed on the attribution page: – die break through the O in DOLLAR – crack in the wreath above LAR – cud forming in the denticles above IBE in LIBERTY – cud forming in the denticles below the date – crack from S in S...

Re: 1878s VAM-62

I share your enthusiasm for VAM 62, and even moreso for VAM 60. Here is everything I have in my database for those two VAMs since 2009: 1878-S 60 62 DM PCGS Dec-13 H $24,675 1878-S 60 62 DM PCGS Jul-10 PP $20,000 1878-S 60 60 DM PCGS Apr-17 H $14,100 1878-S 60 55 ANACS Jan-12 E $14,500 1878-S 60 45 ...

Re: 1886-S - VAM 2 or 4 or...

It looks more like VAM 4 to me. It doesn't look like the outside/top right or outside/bottom left of the S have enough 'stuff' going on to be VAM 2.

Re: 1880-O VAM 6 Spike Ear Overdate or ?

Whatever is coming out of the top of the 2nd 8 is much, much too far right to be a VAM 6/6A. My best guess looking at a photo is it is a small strike-through or a nick of some kind.
