I think it is referred to as quasi-business. Very complicated.

Re: New Vam

The funny thing is that I had the ANACS coin for about 3 years and could not attribute it. Then over a year ago in one of the PCGS bulk submissions thru Messydesk the PCGS coin was sent back with a letter from Messydesk suggesting I send it to LVA with his obvservations. I never even thought to comp...

Like Messydesk said, it is unique. A lot of searching for previously sold "strike through" coins may help you.

I have one of each. They sure look the same to me. I now believe I have two 7B vams.

Re: Suggestion - Would a standard reference grid make attribution easier?

On one of my coins sent to LVA, had a collar clash. I mentioned the slanted date also. Leroy made it two Vams. One with and one without the collar clash. 1902 P VAM 29 and 29A. I don`t understand why this has to be so technical.

Re: 78-S -- new VAM-51 die 2

I feel VAMs are going to be somewhat absurd if new die combo's cease to become new VAMs. Obviously it's Leroy's party, and he can do as he pleases, but I can't help but feel that this VAM-11.2 trend is muddying the waters (since it's supremely arbitrary and can go either way and often does). Not to...

Re: Found another 1893-O VAM-6 privately-made, post your 1893-O/1894-O PMs

To me, the history alone of these who-dunnit CC's should give them more general collector interest than most VAMs. VAMs are the niche - these are just plain US history with a side of criminal intrigue in the form of a coin. Trying to explain VAMs to people makes us sound like bird watchers. These C...
