Re: GSA with a little something, um, well, extra

Unless and until encapsulation takes place inside of a "clean room," which ain't gonna happen, you're gonna find and keep finding all sorts of common particulate debris inside of slabs, on occasion..

Re: Privately Made Question

Greetings all. I recently read a theory that the linked group counterfeit coins were made at an official but not currently working northern Mexico Mint during the Mexican Revolution of 1914-15. The coins may then have been used to buy arms and ammunition. Chihuahua was suggested as one possible min...

My first thought too. If there's a follicle still attached we could crack it and send it to Ancestry

GSA with a little something, um, well, extra

Ever wonder what GSA workers did on their breaks from sorting massive amounts of coins? Well, this short & curly trapped in the case might be an indicator   🤢

Looks like I'll be at table 1124. Looking forward to a VAM dinner Friday night, and I'll be free for dinner Saturday as well. Uncle Julio's Saturday? Maybe a few of us, a second VAM dinner if you will? Dessert is on me. We have to get that chocolate/fruit/Churro pinata this time. Such good mexican ...

Blow it up and you can see the telltale remnants of a 9 on that 0. Great variety!
I laser focused in on that 0 when I saw it was a Philly. Noice JB!

Nice pick Chris! That one is not common at all. It's not? Not sure who said it was, or if I'm slightly mis-remembering the response. Anyway, correct me if I'm off base but I would maybe equate it to Nate's 82p Javelin in terms of scarcity, going off of my specific and cursory experience which is ha...

As the years go by the magnification need increases. You young squirts may never need more than 10x but live a bit longer...... True. Mark and his pea-shooter 20x comes to mind but he and others who tend to use higher mag due to that are experienced in knowing what parts of what they're seeing to d...

Re: Crazy DMPL Day.... <<PCGS UPDATE>>

Nice score Chris. I'm thinking you have more '83-O's than I do now.... :D Ha! And I still have that roll of 52A's. I'm paralyzed by wanting to keep it but really shouldn't then not wanting to split it up cuz I know someone would want a full roll of 52A's and its awesome but as a whole its a much ha...

Back from the Desk of Mess 12/2019

Gotta say, this sub made me schoolgirl giddy  And most were cherrypicks too! 😎🤑🎲 I hate doing multi-coin wide shots as most coins tend to look fugly but you get the idea and I like it better than writing out a list as I'm sure others do too 🙃 20191204_113855.jpg 20191204_113937.jpg 20191204...

I think it's a stain/residue etch of some kind. Using this proscope 50x w/leds may not be trustworthy. I will try real light tomorrow. Thanks DHaliaday. 50x is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too powerful. There is absolutely no need for anything stronger than 10x. Some people use 15-20x for looking at very mi...

Whoop, whoop... Finally found the JR-List coin I've been hunting!

Ever since JR's last VAMthing presentation I've been hunting one of these bad boys, heck, I think it was just a couple weeks ago a thread came up where I mentioned it and y'all said she wasn't all that scarce.. aside for me when I'm trying to find one, apparently  Anywho, finally found one that...

Oh, I forgot to mention that NONE have any issues and all are 3's with a couple possible 2+ and one or two shot 4. Simply amazing. I never cease to be amazed at least a few times per road trip.
