Boom. My deductive reasoning rarely fails me 😎

It is somewhat strange that they left off the & Roebuck part though, as JB eluded to. 🤔
Roebuck was a stamp collector, that's why his name was omitted. I guess when they sold stamps, the holder said "Roebuck & Co."
Thats odd..

Re: Sears Coin Shop

This is probably shortly after the Treasury release, but after clad coinage started. I have my doubts that it's "that" Sears. The holder probably would have been more decoratively printed and said "Sears, Roebuck & Co." or have the then official logo. Maybe I'm wrong. I think Tom DeLorey might know...

Re: Sears Coin Shop

Assuming its that Sears, my guess is it was in their 1960s/70s catalog. Sears & Roebuck used to sell everything. At the turn of the 20th century they were the Amazon of the day. Anything you could think of they pretty much had. I think they still had the catalogs up until the late 80s/early 90s and ...

Re: 1886 VAM-1i

Does it amaze anyone else that, in our hobby, a couple near microscopic die scratches can accurately be described as "an easy marker"? Right. It does train our eyes well though. You'd be surprised (probably not) at the amount of times family and random people give us compliments on our ability to s...

Re: 83 o vam 36 or 36 a?

If I had an MS69 Morgan, I wouldn't be looking to get a new VAM assigned to it. Right. But Jack Lee did own one or two. That was my thought process anyway  The PCGS 69s are all 80-S and 81-S, except for one 96-S. That Jack Lee is not the VAM Jack Lee. Really? I've always had a gnawing suspicio...

Re: 83 o vam 36 or 36 a?

Yuppers i would like to re-ask my question after reading it. i mean is it the highest graded dc of any vam discovery morgan? not just for the vam or year. ty Oh, I wouldn't be the one to answer that but I highly doubt it. There has to be a 67+ or maybe 68 DC out there. Hell, maybe even one of the 6...

Re: 1880 vam 39a strike?

I cherrypicked one raw at the Chicago show last year that came back 62 or 3 in JBs bulk sub. Think I sold it though so can't tell you about the strike. If it had a weak strike it wasn't weak enough to make me remember. Nice pick. Congrats!

My article about the 1883-O VAM 33 is now published in the July-August edition. It's a discussion about how a die can be hubbed thru debris.
Can you shoot a link or if no link can you take pics of the article and post em??? 🙏🙏🙏 😎
