Re: Dave700x
Well, that's... depressing. Dave was indeed always friendly and supportive. I feel like I met him at a show once and what he was here is what he was in real life. RIP Dave!

Re: Show off some of your best vams!!
It might be considered as a High grade in your high end Rabbit eyes. It’s the lowest graded 1888-O Scar H-10 “low ball” found in the wild untouched by pockets of Alabama Rabbits. Lol, had PCGS “re-graded” it and yes they dropped it to a 30. 😎 Burch, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF! All you are do...

Can't say if this is a DC or not, but the "gouges" you show are actually just clash remnants.

Complete WOW! set and mostly complete Elite Clashed Dies set for sale
Due to life changes, I may be looking to sell my WOW! VAMs set and Elite Clashed Dies set. The WOW! set is still the only complete set out there and can be viewed in the SSDC registry. I'd estimate that around 50% of the coins in this set are the plate coins for the WOW! VAMs guide. The Elite CD set...

Re: Interesting 1879-P
Thank you!!! I have about 45 minutes just trying to find that on http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/Home. I wasn't using the correct, or succinct keywords evidently... :-) Curious, What do you think it would be worth at AU58? Numismedia lists 79P in AU58 at $54, so I'd say...

Your efforts have not gone unnoticed at all . I will have to buy the book and not just gloss over the list . its just allot of stuff to learn all at once , I hope you understand ... some of us us are just retarded coming into all this , or it could just be me  Hehe, not to worry, my statements...

This: "Wouldn't it be nice if someone were to lump together all of the most dramatic examples of different listable VAM "types", so beginners could get a feel for what to look for?!? Man, I wish we had a resource like that...." Go beyond the "listable" - those are often arbitrarily, like the 1921 e...

The first one had glasses, but the second one did not, only that tash. I have both. No wonder you can't VAM![]()

Re: Does anybody know if this is a New VAM for 1921 peace dollar
From a cataloging standpoint, there's a balancing act between cataloging everything and creating a manageable catalog. To catalog everything, it's necessary to be able to study a lot of coins at the same time so you can see what everything that's on a particular die. Leroy didn't have this luxury d...

....and not a Morgan in the bunch Louisiana Purchase Expo medal from 1904. AA Weinman is the medalist, designer of the Mercury Dime and Walking Liberty Half. Next is a 1625 Netherlands West Friesland Lion Daalder, there's a possibility this actually circulated in New Amsterdam. and an old copper or...

I clearer picture would help, but I'm pretty sure I recognize JR, Alan and Fogie, off-hand.
As an experiment, see if you can ID Alan if I say "picture Mr. Wilson from Dennis the Menace in your mind"...

Yeah, don't be too upset, a really-for-real v6a is not an easy find and about 3/4 of the claimed "6a's" don't actually qualify as such. This is the real deal for sure.

The update is that the Registry will continue to run rehosted on this very old server. The only things missing presently are the image uploads ...

WOW! You suck!
...But... I'd say this is a v6a. Why would I say this? Is it my "many decades of experience"? Or my naturally superior knowledge?
No, it's because this looks like a twin to mine and JR said something to the effect of "Getting close, but not yet...".
