Re: "78 8TF VAM-9A Possible new die state??

I must be losing my ever-loving mind, but I can't even convince myself this is a VAM-9... am I really that out of practice??

Short answer? No. This isn't a particularly late stage v38b... those dies really went through a lot.

Re: Possible new finds

Maybe it's time to forget about what you think you see and look thru the listings for marriages with the mintmark tilted strongly to the left. There's only a couple of options. Imagination can help you once you understand the basics within this field, but honestly right now you are doing yourself a...

Sorry to hear Hawk, I'm currently in the midst of the same. Our Shiba Inu is 15 and recently developed a severe limp that has me nervous. :(
On a side note, ten years old and already had his own cell phone???

Re: A RESIGNATION CALL FOR ACTION

Scott, I wish I could tell you to GFYS, but, since I haven’t BEEN a board member for SEVERAL YEARS, I have no cause to… though it is nice to see that you are as capable of IDing an SSDC board member as you are at IDing a VAM-23a.

At the end of the day that's one of most 60 most favoritest VAMs... Too bad someone had to assault her so. Definitely a fun VAM and not as hard to find as I was led to believe 😅 Somewhere out there, there is a book that mentions this VAM and, if I recall correctly, the fella that wrote it didn’t th...

Yeah, I found it... at first I thought it was just regular turds and was gonna clean it up, but it turned out it was those crap-ball VAMs you like so much so I just let'em lay.

Re: 1881 O Rim cuds?? What is this

VAM-50a... I lovingly refer to the rim thingies as "cuddlings" and they were one of the main reasons I was driven to prove the VAM-33a didn't exist.

Re: 1882-o 38-b value

FTR, the price didn't go "whoosh", it was never worth what was listed. This was likely due to a lack of real data and a bit of wishful thinking on Logan's part. But even back then you wouldn't have had a chance to get anything close to that from a knowledgeable collector. Scott, ask yourself this qu...

Re: 1882-o 38-b value

If they'd garner any premium, it would be very minor. They are not particularly rare. I see lots of folks trying to squeeze big prices out of them... the key phrase here being "lots of folks". Still a REALLY cool VAM, though!

I could say a lot of things that would probably make a lot of folks very unhappy. Then again, some folks would get it. But since this is a VAM site, I will refrain.
I get it. ;)

Re: Registering finds in the 'wild' versus bought attributed coins?

I like the idea. For me, it's all about the hunt in the wild. For some folks, that may not be possible but that's fine. whatever works. Here is my best pick in the wild. About 1 1/2 years ago, I stopped by the local coin gallery and walked over to the case with the slabbed Morgan Dollars, nothing n...

I have several sets working. The next focus will likely be on the standard Top 50 Peace set. I also just started a WOW! set. I'm already better than halfway done and in 7th. The last couple of pieces are real nut busters though Nah, they're all EASY JR, all you need to do is be singularly focused a...
