They are not extremely rare. I have picked up a few in the past few years. Passed over more than I purchased. As expected, have never seen a 33.

Re: Optics are Everything

The roll ups in the upper photograph are convincing. Lighting is almost everything.

Re: Die State

I'm still shooting from the hip and saying the left coin is a 26 and the right coin is a 7. The psychology of recent postings tell me that Ray has likely shown a 1C1/16 or a 1C2/1J; but I have not studied the photographs at that level of granularity. Whatcha charge per hour, doc? More than en...

I'm still shooting from the hip and saying the left coin is a 26 and the right coin is a 7. Hey Ant. I may be a little out of touch on this thread. Are you speaking of 83OV7/26? If so, that is a kill; except for a little logical problem with proving that something does not exist. I was basing my as...

Re: Die State

I would like to see equally sharp focus at the denticle field interface with comparable lighting. The same for the center serifs of the 3s. The same for right inside walls of the loops. I see contradictory characteristics that may be a property of the photographs. If one relied solely on the shape o...

In lieu of the VAM type, the PMD Dot blow RW5 is interesting. Especially for the LFCP.

Re: Die Stage versus Die State from VW10 Board by VAMPICKER

Stages, it seems, refect discreet (digital) events. States, it seems, reflect continuous (analog) events. I often am assessing the mint ordering of a progression within a die pair that may entail ordering several coins. I use every hint available. Including, the extent and girth of a crack - an anal...

Die Stage versus Die State from VW10 Board by VAMPICKER

Someone, who archived the following post from VW10, recently provided it to me. Of all posts that I have ever read on VW, I defer to this post moreso than any other. I re-post it here so that it is archived on VW20. If VAMPICKER had the time to copy/paste this content into an OP; then I would delete...

That wasn't meant as a Ray Charles reference to not seeing an E... But I'm throwing it out there anyways.
Not only did Johnny keep his soul; but, he gained a considerable investment in gold. Nothing to fiddle around with.

Re: Walk Me Through It...

Folks perception of posts can be misunderstood given the unattached nature of blogs such as this site without facial expressions and/or voice tone. You likely know that. I can't speak for Felix, but none of my comments in this thread are meant as "cantankerous". I was referring to tempering my cant...

Loren, I don't know what you are suggesting, but I did laugh when I read your response. Hope that was the intent
I was attempting to temper cantankerousness with humor. Despite my aspirations, I could never, sincerely, claim to be a curmudgeon.

Re: Walk Me Through It...

Reminds of the song by the Charlie Daniels Band, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". Felix and I both suggested we were being played early on in Yokels posts. The devil lost and Johnny kept his soul. What is being suggested? You believe that the thread author is not sincerely chasing a new clashed E ...

Re: 1901-P Conundrum

So after you get your mind around all of that, then you run into the reverse of a different reverse die that is apparently not listed. Not a VAM-20. What do you do? Prepare a kill submission. Whereas "multiple die pairs may exist;" the same die pair can not satisfy multiple base varieties. Disclaim...
