Likely NEW 1878-S die marriage

Reverse of V24, 30, 43.1 & 43.2, but it’s the obverse. No metal in 1st 8 so ruled out 43.2. No doubling of LIBERTY or eyelid…so…not 24 or 30. There is a small horizontal die crack thru the bottom of the neck, below the ‘m’ and extends over to the vee gap (location where clashed s or t might be seen ...

For example, sell 2 items @ $300 each to same person at same time. Now figure out cost basis, fees (listing / sale fees, PayPal fees if ...

Ditto, thanks to ANACS and SSDC. I just got my one in the mail today, and it is special!!! Well, time for a full court press in 2022; got to keep filling 1878 model year holes…

1st pick of 2022

I know what you’re thinking; starting a lowball set, but alas that would be incorrect. Anyway, this will be heading off across the nation to see if my hopes and dreams are crushed or if my hypothesis is validated, and help pave the way to a great year. For me, 2021 ended on a strong note (potential ...

Re: 1878-P 7TF PAF has aspect of VAM 131 and 190 with more

As for obverse type, that was determined by LVA when he examined a submittal several years ago resulting in V186A and 186B. Me, I agree with his assessment. As for adding photos to better show other die markers a few of the site administrators can help, but the way over polished reverse die with bro...

Re: 1878-P 7TF PAF has aspect of VAM 131 and 190 with more

TDITD (the die is the die); that extra metal in the 1st 8 is unique to the 186B OBV. Sometimes die states can warrant a new designation; e.g. 141 & 141A, but typically it has to be something that really stands out, like a letter transfer clash, or a big terminal radial die crack for example; die wea...
