Agree; for instance there are 4 stages of 221B.

Re: Covid Shots

I'm just a few hours north of Shortnock and nothing here yet. I guess I am in group 1-3, so I'm lower on the priority list...

Re: Apparently this is a rare 1878

I knew that...still looking to upgrade the AU 53 I found any years ago, so great find. I'm pretty sure I saw one unc. quite a number of years ago on HA, but price got too high for my budget back then. Several of the C reverse dollars are just dang near impossible to find, and more so uncirculated. 2...

Re: 1878 vam 70 / 70A ?

Haven't seen one without cracks, but more than one set in the SSDC registry list both. I suspect no crack specimens exist, so I keep looking...As to those coins I have seen, not sure what would be the dividing line between 70 / 70A. Can't say I believe V22C really exists either...At least with the V...

...and will add only found 2 in the wild, both AU...trying to assemble an unc C reverse set, V215 and 221.1A aside, is about impossible, so the hunt goes on!

Re: WTB: 1878 VAMs 221B EDS, 225, 226, 228.4, 230.1

Tall order for any of these! FYI; V226 comes un-clashed and there is a lightly clashed version w/o letter transfer so it won't be a 226A. BTW, don't forget 215 for the C set

Best wishes on the hunt in 2021! V85 & 86 are on several folk's want lists here.

Some stout prices on GC last night

Not sure who “Colonel” is; many of that collection sold for solid prices on last night’s GC auction; can’t believe hammer price for 1879-S rev 78 V6 in PCGS MS 60 - over $2450 with juice!! I was just monitoring 1878 / 79-s rev 78 stuff. :o

Re: 1879-S Rev of 1878

So as a follow-on, I'll bet the use of the us of 2 'B' reverse dies at Carson City in 1880 also caused some consternation back east a year after San Francisco got the stop use order. Any idea when / why the B reverse dies were deployed? Was the shipment of C reverse dies late in arriving from Philly?
