Re: 1889-P date placement help needed

Here is a cropped and enlarged ear section of your coin, it does have some remaining doubling. Looks to be a VAM-32. Do others agree or disagree?

Re: 1889-P date placement help needed

Looks to be more likely a high 9 than a slanted date and those polishing line at cotton bolls stems on your coin look identical to VAM-32. The description says "slight doubling at right inside, top right outside and at very bottom outside. I can see on your 2nd pic of the ear what appears to be some...

Re: It's Finally In-Hand... Is It a New E Discovery?... Muahaha...

I have read that image sizes are to be kept at certain size, however when I went to FAQ,s the page says "There is currently no text in this page". The image size is to help show where the "E" clash would appear between the tail feathers and the bow having a "n" clash or "G" clash at the neck. I hope...

Re: what caused this?

That chunk of metal at about the 1 o'clock position on the lower loop of the "B" looks pretty interesting. It is amazing how much material at the top of the letters has been rolled toward the center of the coin. Does the date have the same appearance, and if so, is it on the top of the date or is it...

Re: Potential new contemporary counterfeit Morgan Dollars - requesting advice

Notice on the 1900, the date numbers are almost straight across they don't even have the arc.

Just an observation, thought I'd throw that out there.

Re: 82 O/S progression

It is your second paragraph which is the explanation I remember which explains the repaired die and the repair work deteriorating over the use of the die.
Thank you!

82 O/S progression

Did anyone save the post about the progression of the 1882 O/S from the old VAMworld site. It explained how the eds with a flush crossbar line of the "S" was the first in the the progression and how the crossbar within the "O" became less prominent? I found that to be a very good piece of informatio...

JOf81md1883-O-rev-mm-cropped-0.jpg I copied, saved, and cropped the 18th picture on page 1 but I don't yet know how to upload photos so I will try my best to point out a couple of the things that I am seeing on this coin. Ok, both things deal with the mm. On page one of this thread scroll and count...
