Re: Is this 1880 p A VAM? I’m learning/new to VAMs
Correction - I messed that up - have long dimension of your pic in horizontal dimension, such that when coin is vertical and long dimension is horizontal. Then perhaps it won't be reoriented.

Just a guess - the site may reorient pictures to have large dimension of pic in horizontal orientation. You might try and edit/crop pic to have long dimension in your picture for posting in the vertical axis, and then reload/repost one as a test.

Re: 1880 VAM 6, not VAM 8 Ears - Right?
Just a follow up - this coin is back up on EBay right now. (I returned it previously with explanation showing it was incorrectly attributed.) I just contacted seller, who said they had sent this coin back to NGC and questioned the VAM 8 assignment. NGC re-holdered it and returned it, again as a VAM ...

Re: Overdate VAM-20
Not sure if this is of any help. Recently I was able to get an 1891 O VAM 14a in reasonably good condition. I think this is such a cool variety and I was happy to be able to get one to add to my collection. Attached are some pics showing clashes and I hope they are of some assistance. I do not see t...

Re: 1886 S VAM 4 Listable Break
Thanks very much. For what it's worth, in looking at my coin verses the first coin pictured on VAMWorld, the second 8 and the 6 have a diagonal die scratch on left side of bottom loop as well. I appreciate your input.

1886 S VAM 4 Listable Break
I went back and forth on whether this coin was VAM 2 S/S Top 100 or VAM 4 S/S Sides. Pretty much had settled on VAM 4 as best fit. However a couple things don't seem to match up well. Its a nice coin with no wear so there is no masking going on. Is that a listable die break on reverse below the E. I...

Re: 1878 CC
Look at 78cc page. At top there's a link to a "4th star and mint mark" page. On that page you have groupings of long nock and short nock. You appear to have a long nock. Within them you have 4th star broken, and for unbroken. You appear to have 4th star broken. Also then have to choose if you have a...

Re: How Long Have You Collected our Beloved Morgan Dollars ???
LOL. Lured-in-again's story is mine as well. My family was quite poor early on, and Dad would recycle $50 bags of pennies to keep me occupied. I would go thru each bag, inserting a penny for any I kept, putting them in rolls of 50 so he could trade in for the next bag. Not till the late 80's could I...

Thanks. There is definitely displaced metal along the crack on mine, but I certainly yield to the experts.
Thanks again for your kind replies.

Re: 1892 CC VAM 2 or 2a?
Thanks for responses. I agree it’s not 2a since cud is key attribute. It does seem like something is missing, unless all “V2 CC tilted left” reverses have the U-R break. If so I’d think it would be in the description. That is a substantial break not to be listed. Should there be a V2 “no break” and ...

1892 CC VAM 2 or 2a?
Both the 1892 CC - VAM 2 and 2a have pictures showing UR break. The 2a says the break is the beginning of the rim crud and is an early state of 2a. The first pic under VAM 2 shows the break as well, although not really in the text. I'm confused. Is the following coin a 2 or 2a? Also not noted under ...

Re: 1887 O VAM 5b Doubled Stars, Cud, Die Break B
Wow. Not much of a premium at all. Still cool with the cud and the break, but seems out of sort with rarity and Top 100.
Thanks.
Thanks.

1887 O VAM 5b Doubled Stars, Cud, Die Break B
I have 2 of these. Neither graded, both show some old light cleaning; otherwise low AU. One has a larger cud, and the other smaller. VAMWorld description for interest and rarity is I-5 R-7. I see no records of any having sold in any condition. One MS61 for sale on EBay at $1070 including shipping. T...

Wanted double check since NGC assigned the VAM 8, and I expect seller will not be happy.
Thanks!!

1880 VAM 6, not VAM 8 Ears - Right?
Please double check me before I return this. The slab is legit as attested to by NGC, but unfortunately the attribution appears wrong. I was OK with harshly cleaned in order to have one. But when I got hands on it, I immediately concluded it was not a VAM 8, but rather a misattributed VAM 6. Thanks

1881 S 54b Wounded and cleaned eagle
Been looking for one of these for a long, long time. I'm sure its grade stating it was cleaned made it off-limits to high end collectors and investors, and I got it for ~pocket-change. Fields are pretty glassy and shows hairlines, so no argument on grading. As a fixed income hobbyist, sometimes one ...

I'm thinking PMD as well. I think mine is correctly attributed and it has no such neck.
