Re: USPS question
This topic covered quite extensively on the PCGS forum. It seems coin related claims will not be honored unless they are sent certified mail. About 6 months ago, someone posted the USPS paragraph outlining the policy but I can't find it at the moment.

Re: Morgan 1886-P open or close 6?
I would consider it a closed for VAM purposes. No pics of the open type and it may not exist.

Re: Morgan 1885-O Broken S
Impressive cleanup. The junction between lower and upper half is really narrow. I can't believe I don't have a picture of it or a Morgan out but for a letter to be "broken" it's very obvious. I'll attach what I have in the form of a broken "r". If the "s" is missing something, it could be just wear ...

Re: Morgan 1885-O Broken S
The "s" is not broken. Do you see the white/milky field around the word "trust" and in other areas? This is not normal and hints that the coin may be covered with a resin or similar. Perhaps soak it to remove the debris. Acetone is safe for silver. I suggest not rubbing or scrubbing the coin.

Re: Help with doubling... 1883-S
Mel....Did you attribute it? I don't see an S tilted right. It seems upright and slightly low and left. The date most resembles VAM 6. Other than wing-neck gap, there's really not a lot of other visuals to help you out. I hope this helps. GL

Perfect! VAM 14 needs to be listed under the pitted dies guide. Thank you.

Re: 1883 Small Pox: Is it worthy
I'm not sure I understand. So if I have the 1B, 1E, and VAM 25 pitted obverse with those cracks, what might it be? I do not have the 1E and 25 attributes.....

Re: 1883 Small Pox: Is it worthy
Holysmokes! I just noticed that wreath crack goes all the way through the wing to the s in trust. Can't say I've seen that before.

1883 Small Pox: Is it worthy
I received one of these today (VAM 1B/190 reeds/Yes, I actually counted them). Other than the obvious pitting, this coin has significantly more die cracks not seen on the others. My T-A crack takes a differnt path. I've read VAM 101 and submission guidelines. Do my pictures possibly qualify for a ne...

Re: Help with 1886-P (Eight in Denticles)
Question -- How does a digit get into the denticles; a way, way off center die contact, or? I wondered same. Here's an interesting discussion on the very topic. An erratic date punch seems to be the favorite. https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/759379/numbers-in-denticles-i-find-them-very-inte...

Re: 1881-S Slanted date, Doubled 1-81 die chip first 8, doubled stars, letters. Doubled reverse letters S/S
I took out my 1881-S with C3k reverse and tried to match things up. No bueno. There is no s/s listed for the tilted S and many links discussing the tilted right S are broke. I attributed mine as a VAM 36 but have my doubts. Even the slanted date, which I think you have, doesn't lead anywhere. GL

Re: Help with 1886-P (Eight in Denticles)
Awesome! I appreciate it MarkyB! I have 14 to go for variety confirmation with them already... I'll add this to the order. Sincerely, -Mel Glad to help. I have to admit I was a bit jealous as I have no VAM with anything in the denticles. Lo and behold tonight, going thru my nonattributed but slabbe...

Re: Help with 1886-P (Eight in Denticles)
Thank you as well messydesk! How would I proceed to have a new variety studied and perhaps recognized? I am clueless! -Mel If you send the coin to ANACS, team Vampicker will research it for you. If a new VAM, they will label it as a discovery coin but unfortunately Details Cleaned. Grading ...

Re: 1923-D: Saturday Night Fun
I pulled my 1923-D VAM 2 out to be shore of my attribution .. IT is VAM 2 . My 1923-D VAM 2 NGC MS 63 also VSS label . One of the most striking features of the coin is that Y die break and nothing mentioned about it in the VAM 2 data. Seems 1Q should be eliminated and VAM 2 updated. The obverse des...
