Re: 19222 D Peace. Die BREAK I/N

B1 or B2 reverse? 2P1 is the best I can do at this point without closeups of any anomalies.

Re: Authenticity of 1891-CC Morgan

I see nothing that concerns me as to its legitimacy. Looks like a VAM 5 or 6. Hope others agree and you can enjoy your new coin.

Great work guys. I too had focused on that single lower thread and a few other areas and went thru all those D2 scribbles listings 3X with no luck. I think weth has nailed it.

Re: O/T 2023 Reverse proof Pre order

I don't have any reverse proofs in my collection so I'm anxious to get them in hand. Unfortunately I won't see them until Mrs. Santa leaves them under the tree.

Full(er) article. CACC wants a modern looking liberty. Given more recent designs of liberty, I saw it coming.

Re: Merely a question

From "What is a VAM" definition page: --"Through careful study, slight differences can be used to identify specific dies that created the coins" --"To this end, every Morgan dollar in existence is either already a VAM or should be a VAM". Given what JB said, he may agree with the definition a bit mo...

Merely a question

This past weekend I picked up an 1889 Morgan. Turned out to be a VAM 53, Die #2.

If a VAM is a combination of two dies, why, when a 2nd reverse die is identified, is it not given a different VAM number? I have several where this applies.

Re: 1878s VAM-72

It is the responsibility of submitters to familiarize themselves with, and fully understand, which VAMs a grading service does and does not attribute. Period. Agreed. I didn't ask them to do squat with the attribution yet they took the time to call my attention to it and ask if I wanted it transfer...

Re: 1878s VAM-72

I recently sent several crossovers to PCGS. Within a day or two of receipt, my order was flagged as problematic and it concerned the VAMs attributed on my ANACS holders. They wanted to know if I expected the VAM attribution to be carried over to the new label should it cross. These weren't Top 100 o...

Darkside 24-S help

davidkclose Another coin from this past weekend show in Des Moines. I have eliminated all but 1I(eye) and VAM 3. 1I has a lowsy picture and describes beveled field at date and top field. I think this qualifies. This coin has the exact crack listed under VAM 3 but lacks pretty much everything else (...

Re: 1902P - Has me stumped

Appreciate all the inputs. I'm happy calling it a 19 for now. However, this caused me to get out another 1902 for a side-by-side and what I had labeled a VAM 14 was not a 14. The listing was amended in May to include PuPs I don't have. Soooo it now looks like a 22 but without a picture of the date, ...

The VAM 22 note is interesting but the area around my "I" looks nothing like that. I'm starting to think the 1902P listing needs some tidying up.

Re: 1902P - Has me stumped

Thanks UB. I could live with VAM 19 as the final answer but the "needs to be reconfirmed as near or normal" is throwing me off. IMO, VAM 19 and mine are "nearer" than VAM 3. Other than that, mine very much matches the VAM 19 reverse.
