Re: Possible new finds
It is quite possible also that the mint polished off any evidence of the clash from the field to keep from having to rebuild a die. And the L inside the B is in the high point of the B. And I believe that I have evidence of the mint doing just that on another Morgan. For the dies to have clashed th...

To better understand clashed dies and get some visualization help, there is a great resource on VAM world:

Re: OT: fake ASE $1 from eBay
Something that’s also wrong is the letter U on obverse and reverse. That letter type was used from 1986-2007. From 2008 and beyond it’s been a U with a tail. The tilde between silver and One is also different, though less obvious to casual observers.

I think this would qualify as an SP. SP40 maybe?

OT: 1915-S Panama Pacific Half
Recently received one of my favorite commemoratives, Charles Barber designed Obverse and George Morgan designed reverse.
As you can see, Morgan still had a difficult time with eagles.
Eventually I’ll get the $2.5 if the price is ever right.

Re: Came across this interesting denticle hit
I agree it’s likely reeded edge that has the mimic of a double tap. It’s in an ANACS soapbox, but not a desirable one, so I can crack it for a closer look, but it’s more of just an interesting oddity in my eyes. When I saw it, I thought denticles, but as I was corrected and looked closer, it couldn’...

Re: How Long Have You Collected our Beloved Morgan Dollars ???
I’ve collected off and on for around 30 years. I found my first Morgan at my grandmothers house. She let me keep it and that started my love of them. In California you could make money by recycling cans, so I would collect cans then head to the pawn shop or LCS. I’d upgrade my collection by using my...

Came across this interesting denticle hit
Looking over a double date 1880-S and noticed this interesting hit in the center arrowhead I thought I’d share. The date is kind of annoying since I thought it was an ears variety when I first picked it up, but appears to just be a crack.

Re: Old holder madness at Heritage
I like ANA/ANACS soapboxes, particularly the slightly smaller generation holders. There’s a bit of nostalgia for me with them, as my first slabbed coin was in a soapbox and they were a little cheaper than the others at the time. While I don’t collect them per se, I do seek them when looking for comm...

Re: 1904-O VAM-28A and VAM-32 observation
There was a VAM-e issued on this subject if you are interested and can find it. It was dated March 19, 2011 Volume 8 Issue 7, entitled, "Where is the 1904-O Missing Link?" It will provide more insight and background. I appreciate the continued support on this! I have access to the SSDC so I’ll take...

Re: 1904-O VAM-28A and VAM-32 observation
@LateDateMorganGuy is that just a typographical error on the VAM-18 page where it says die #2 same reverse as VAM-23?
The 18.2 wreath bow certainly looks like VAM-32’s.
Edit: I see now, VAM-23 is now 48.

Re: 1904-O VAM-28A and VAM-32 observation
You have stumbled across one of the conundrums of the 1904-O series. The best explanation is this: An anomaly in the series involves the VAM-32. Both obverse and reverse dies were involved in clash episodes at some point in time. However, the rotation of the reverse clash marks in relation to the o...

1904-O VAM-28A and VAM-32 observation
I noticed something I hadn’t expected when comparing the reverse of 1904-O VAM-28A and VAM-32. While I know they share an obverse (along with VAM-2A), I hadn’t expected to find the reverse of VAM-32 also clashed. I tried looking for faint marks of the second clash on the obverse of VAM-32, but with ...

Re: HELP FINDING MORE NEW VAMERS
If you want to attract new members and then retain them, you will have to simplify. Allow me to put it directly -- there is too much "stuff" to catch the interest of new collectors. They will not wade through the chest-deep mire of multiple sub- sub- super-sub varieties and suffixes to VAM numbers....
