Re: 1921P potential duplicate listings

VAMs 3GR, 3HC, 42 seem the same. 42 as shown is a later die stage than the coin shown as 3HC. Will probably make these 42 (no break at F) and 42A (break at F).

Glad you like it! There are 2 left if anyone still needs a 2022 calendar. Even if you don't need one, you probably do need a bunch of pictures of cool coins.

Re: clueless about this 1921-S

It looks like the slab took it hard in the scribble zone. Can you polish it or at least smear some oil on it to make it easier to see?

The 1886 date Is a mess Quite a few duplicate listings of the same Variety Just a different die stage Expl: vam 23,vam 28 Also The new vam 27A is a duplicate of vam 19lds! I'm glad you're looking into this date in detail. It seems like most of the 86s I see that don't have repunching around the dat...

Re: 86 Chip at TY

Is JB talking DIE CHIP TY not the double ear ...CHIP CHIP and dip . I thinking their is to much reading and thought going in to this ear . Die Chip . On the coin in question, the only feature of note is the chip by TY. The die hadn't worn enough to cause the doubled ear, but apparently this chip is...

Re: 86 Chip at TY

Ray, any year actually that makes the point. Yes, the doubling around the inside edge of the ear tends to be die fatigue regardless of the date. If I had both an early and late die state in hand I could easily show this, but that seldom happens. When die fatigue causes a doubled ear, it seems to ha...

Vam 24
Interesting. This would be an early die stage, then, without doubling inside the ear. Unfortunately, I think the VAM 24 listing is a "catch-all" for multiple die pairs that have a normal date and doubling on the ear.

Anyone else also have this on an 86 VAM 24?

86 Chip at TY

Here's a potential new 1886 I'm considering listing. Checking to see if anyone has seen it before on a coin they have. Date is at left half of normal position (LH3/RE4), nothing else interesting on the coin. If you've studied 1886 and know of this being associated with a currently listed VAM, let me...

Re: Is there any vams that are with the 1921 d JOH-22 small break above m Morgan?

@Geseas how would one go about getting a vam number listed for it that would be really cool. I'm curious on how people get errors attributed by them? Take a look at the links at the top of the VAMWorld home page, including "Guidelines for New Die Varieties." Be aware that for this specific variety,...

I agree with this. It took me a while to realize what a listable VAM meant. I still feel the Attribution 101 page http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/Attribution_101 should be immediately under the VAMWorld Home page link at the TOP of the page so everyone entering in is mo...

Re: 1896 P Vam 4 or 4a?

The short answer is that for now I would call it VAM 4. The long answer becomes complicated. Looking at the pictures of VAM 4A, the gouges in the field are easy to see. What I must wonder, however, is if the reason you don’t have them on your coin is due to die wear or because the gouge in the cap c...

Re: I may have met my match (21-P VAM 1)

And the gouge in the 7th left wing feather is a dead match to my two VSS-attributed 29As. In fact, the gouge is the photo PUP on one of the VSS stickers. Interestingly, my ANACS VAM 29 (very semi-PL surfaces and no trace of crack or beveling) doesn't yet have the 7th feather gouge. I've updated the...

Are you sure the top of the cap isn't machine doubling? This is one you're going to have to hang on to until you find a PL that has the same gouge in the wing.

Cool piece of history. I wonder if the smooth brass features have to do with exposure to abrasion or if it was polished that way after being cast. Psychic Bank of Ohio. But really, the bank was founded in 1907 and I think the building this came from was built back in the mid 1920's. The bank is long...
