Re: New 1921 Morgan ?
Well, they are consistent with this variety. I don't even count it as a screw-up when one comes back in the wrong holder in a bulk order.

Re: 1889 o VAM 1A2 Morgan
The only photo I have of this one is the clashed E for the label. The coin is a bit "crunchy," so not every clash is going to show up as strongly as marks on the coin. I really can't tell from the photos, but I think the easiest way to differentiate is going to be whether there is a single or double...

Re: 1889 o VAM 1A2 Morgan
Could you show the g clash? I’m seeing a vam 1a1. Maybe I’m missing something. I was thinking the same thing Brian. That’s why I Refered to it as an 89-O. But then I figured that I’m missing something because it was attributed by JB. Could be a "mechanical error" on my part. I'll fix it if it is, o...

Re: In memorial
Sad news, and a bit of a surprise. I met him a few times at some FUN shows a few years back. Really nice guy. I hadn't seen around here for a few weeks and was unaware of any health problems he may have had. I bought a few coins from him last year.

Re: 1878 VAM-39 B to A transition point?
Looks like you have 39A. The big "shark fin" scratch spanning the d and w is missing from your coin. The scratches you show in the same area are weaker on the picture of the 39B.

Re: Submission prep question
If you're talking about packaging them for shipping, put them in flips and rubber band the bundle together. If you have enough to put in a tube, you can ship that way, too, padded full with packing fill. If you use one of the clear plastic tubes, wrap the whole thing in tape, as they tend to break i...

Re: Funny... but not a scribble!
There was some other coin I or someone sent Leroy with a similar impression. I referred to it as a cootie, but he said it wasn't quite the right shape and said it should simply be a worm. I'm not sure if he was being serious or his sense of humor was having a good day.

Re: An insane 1882-O Vam-17B wow vam.
Thanks Vam-mysterio, actually, I didn't know fogie (Brent) was an expert till just now. Here I was thinking that most if not all of the top and major vams on these big lists were not very common to outright rare, that seldom were they common.... The original list, the Top 100, was comprised of coin...

Re: 1878 P VAM 42/42A
Judging from the comments, yes, but it would take both the normal and EDS VAM 1A being submitted to Leroy with a request to delist the VAM 1A2 to get it set right.

Re: Adding 1890-p vam 13a
Sure, why not. I'm sure there are others hidden in my database of thousands of variety descriptions.
Of course, maybe a "dentricle" is a denticle that has sprung a leak, not that that makes any sense.

Re: 1900 O/CC VAM 11A Question
VAM 11A is a later die stage of VAM 11. It does count as a Top 100 coin. We don't really know how rare it is in comparison to VAM 11. as the transition from VAM 11 to VAM 11A is a gradual one. There is likely no premium for one over the other.
