Re: 1886 O Rotated Reverse

Also, use the wiki's search capabilities. To search for a date with a mint mark, it must be in quotes because of the hyphen, "1886-O". You can use the word "rotated" as an additional search term and you'll get all the varieties for 1886-O that mention being rotated.

How do we pay?
Send me a PM. You'll pay with a check or PayPal. Hopefully a website able to take payments will be running for next year's supplement.

14 of the first print run of 25 are already spoken for.

Re: can't find right vam

One thing that might trip you up is the 2. From your photo, it looks like the lower half is filled. If this is the case, be aware that the die chip that causes this happens later in the die's life, and that there are probably coins from the same dies without the filled 2.

Re: can't find right vam

1902-O is a good date for divide and conquer. There are reverses that are C4, C3, and C4/C3. Then look at the date and mint mark position. This doesn't look like one of the privately made ones.

Re: New 1897-O VAM-6C

😂😂😂 I am working this VERY coin as I login to ask a question I see this. But, the coin I have, has a near date and a low date. Which to you go with first? Lateral position is more important when trying to figure these out. Secondly the obverse has III2-6 as well as III2-10. It also has attributes t...

Printed 2022 Supplements available!

After working out the logistics for this, I'm happy to announce that the 2022 VAM supplement is now available. This booklet covers changes in both Morgan and Peace dollars for 2022. The text descriptions are only for 2022, as a comprehensive list including everything back to 1992 has not yet been me...

These were on the planchet before it was struck, created when the strip was drawn out to the correct thickness.

Re: 1921P potential duplicate listings

I will update the VAM 120A page to say "Discovered by RogerRock as VAM 1BB in 20xx". I'll also add the relevant pictures from Leroy to that page. This will reflect what should have happened when Fogie submitted his coin, which is a revision and a renumbering of VAM 1BB as VAM 120A. I can't really fa...

Re: New Shipping Regulations Prevents Canadian Commerce

This thread cracks me up. Play by the rules or go home. Rules change. By the way, don't bring politics into this forum. I am surprised Messy didn't delete this thread. I'm not going to delete it, but I am going to lock it. Everyone needs to play by the rules. When the rules are too onerous, people ...

Re: New Shipping Regulations Prevents Canadian Commerce

Interesting problem. I looked into this and found conflicting information. FedEx shows collectible coins as specifically being prohibited from importation into Canada. Canada Border Services Agency only shows base metal and counterfeit coins as being prohibited. USPS states is silent about collectib...

Thanks for posting this. This link goes directly to RG 104 Entry 11. The years that can be clicked represent the earliest year of correspondence for a given range (e.g., click on 1838 to find Box 6, 1860 for Box 11, &c.) I'll also add a link to Entry 11 on the NNP Resources page on the wiki.

I would list that as VAM 40A if it weren't already listed as VAM 40A. Thats @messydesk You are good at keeping a thread on track. I think you may need some practice on hijacking one :) I am just kidding! I can do better than that. If a thread is hijacked and starts going to a bad place, I can launc...

Re: New Orleans dies shipped for 1904

Thanks for posting. The 1903-O dimes section is interesting. Some uncharacteristically low mintages for the first few die pairs. I have to wonder if the cause of the dies being condemned so early (6,770 pieces in one case) is visible on the coins, and if the Barber collectors know or care.

OK, that's not a grading service, just an inventory tag for a dealer. Decent looking coin, though. How does it fare on the white paper test for AU58?

Impossible to tell without the discovery coins. The gouge below TRVST is the result of a feed finger scrape that could show up on several dies. No additional pictures of either discovery coin is currently available.

@CascadeChris will be doing attributions there. It'll be a soft launch, accepting coins from the big investors first while they ramp up. First 10 coins graded will be winners of an open essay contest.
