Re: 1878 7TF Minor Renumbering
Great work JB! Any plans for VAM-45? If you're referring to 1902-O VAM 45, I'm inclined to leave that alone for the foreseeable future. The description of VAM 45 is rather non-descript, and in these cases it's probably best just to leave well enough alone (doesn't pass the meaningful test I m...

Re: ANA World Money show -Chicago roll call
That was at a different hotel near the convention center. The parking in the big garage across the street from the convention center is $15, and restaurants behind the garage validate parking.

1878 7TF Minor Renumbering
In the interest of getting rid of the "Die 1/Die 2" notation, a couple 78 7TFs have been renumbered. VAM 140.1 is now VAM 140. The clashed die stage is still VAM 140A. VAM 140.2 is now VAM 147, as it uses a different reverse die. VAM 114.1 is now VAM 124, as it uses a different reverse die from VAM ...

Re: estate sale an old holder 1881-S
Hey All who respond a Big THANK YOU :D AS for the Numbers on the ID TAG do you all think those Numbers may help???? No. Inventory numbers at best, possibly just meaningless numbers to make it look like sophisticated inventory numbers. The bottom one has the date and grade encoded into it ...

Re: estate sale an old holder 1881-S
I take it the other side of the insert is blank. Chances are this is some boiler room flip. The tag was printed on a band printer, probably in the mid to late '80s as prices on silver dollars with grades was first starting to take off bigly. The lack of any identification tells me the seller didn't ...

Scarce EDS of 78-S VAM 16 now VAM 16A
I had a chance to look at a scarce early die stage of the 78-S VAM 16 side-by-side with the one everyone has (thanks lewisr2 ). The EDS has the gouge in the eagle's right wing extending far into the left field, while the more common one has it polished away, along with a light clash. This is the sam...

Waiting for one more inbound shipment, then it'll be ready to go, probably the week after the ANA show.

Re: 1878CC Vam7a
I usually see this one in XF-AU grades, so an MS63 is a pretty good pick. I wouldn't call it rare in circulated grades, but it probably is in MS63.

Re: Collar Clash
Not a clash at all. A clash is when dies hit each other and cause subsequent coins to show the after-effects. Did you happen to catch the doubled stars?SilverToken wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 12:21 pmOK
Then is it just considered a clash on the denticles, crushing them 1/2 way down?

Re: can an AU55 coin be PROOF LIKE
Light wear that results in an AU58 grade can still leave sufficient mirrors in the fields to qualify the coin for a PL designation. I haven't seen a 55PL, if the mirrors are still there, it should be graded PL.

Re: "78 8TF VAM-9A Possible new die state??
I don't see anything that would make me think to list another stage. 9A has a weak clash, 9 doesn't have a clash. Your looks like it might have a second, weaker clash, but it's not listable.

Re: Rotation
Rotation under 15° isn't considered a big deal. Other features of the coins will help with the attribution more than the rotation will.

If there's no dash under the 8 and no doubled arrows, I'd call it VAM 5.
