I knew it was either numismatic literature (vam related) or die related medals..
Could have also been a medal by Morgan or of a coining press.

Looks like NGC cert verifications are coming up "reported stolen/missing".

Re: Stolen coins

Glad they've started showing up locally. I'll put an update on the PCGS forum. Hoping the wheels of justice eventually grind in your favor and everything is recovered. Also hoping they grind the fingers of the thieves down to stumps one at a time and slowly.

Re: Peace

They've always taken a back seat to Morgans, but there are still people really interested in them. I'm shipping out 3 completed submissions today. Two were just Peace dollars, one from a new submitter.

Re: Mark Kimpton Collection at Stack's/Bowers

As far as I know, Mark sold his stuff a long time ago when he went to be a missionary. I thought he sold to Michael Fey, but could be mistaken, and he might not be the current owner, anyway. All coins have been recently seen by ANACS in preparation for the sale, as they were bought and collected as ...

Re: Time to order 2023 Calendar!

I got my calendar's yesterday. They are amazing. I like the larger size. Thanks. Glad you like it! The different size caught me off-guard and annoys me a little. It's not a huge difference, but they went from 8 1/2 x 11 to A4 format, even though their website says 8 1/2 x 11. I don't know if this i...

Mark Kimpton Collection at Stack's/Bowers

Just got an e-mail from Stack's/Bowers that 118 of Mark Kimpton's clashed Morgans, including discovery pieces, are selling next Tuesday, 12/13. Here's the link.

Re: 1878 7TF Minor Renumbering Complete

The C reverses are a project for another day. The ugliest listings, all the VAM 210s, were relatively low-hanging fruit.

Re: Printed 2022 VAM Supplement

Yes. Leroy didn't make a 2020 supplement but did a 2020-21 supplement. Shortly thereafter, Michael Fey bought all of his IP and now I have the text of that document and paste-up pages. I have to work out duplication and distribution methods for that. Leroy ran to Kinko's with a stack of papers and m...

That's a clash from the top of Liberty's head. Quite common and not listed as a feature in the VAM catalog.

Printed 2022 VAM Supplement

As the year draws to a close, I need to figure out what to do about the annual VAM supplement. This year's will be text for only 2022 as well as pictures for 2022. I don't have the 1992-2021 text integrated into my database yet, as that's a future project. The Morgan and Peace dollars will be in the...

Re: OT Capped Bust Half Grading question

Looks like a really nice piece. The wing edges are fairly sharp, consistent with being graded AU, but there's wear on the obverse that stands out more. I can't get a good read on the surfaces or luster, so I'm going to say it is graded XF45.

Whatever was happening in Philly was being echoed in the Big Easy.
Remember that all dates were punched into dies in Philadelphia, so everyone got their share of wonky dates. 96-S has a few, too, including a misplaced date that was just listed a month ago (VAM 11).

Re: 1878 7TF Minor Renumbering

The last of the 1878 7TF renumbering has been completed. 185A, B, C, and 186A and B are now 180-184. 195A is 194. A table on the 1878 page contains a cross-reference for old and new numbers. That will be the end of the changes made for this year. I have my eyes on 1878-S next year, as VAMs like 47, ...

Re: 1896-P VAM-5A obverse scratches?

Neat Double! Part of me wishes that the initial descriptions on sort by date was more detailed, like "Extreme Doubled One", but another part really appreciates that it isn't.. it makes you hunt and learn. There's a "signal-to-noise ratio" optimization that is needed for titles and descriptions. Pre...

Near date with C3 reverse and nothing else notable is VAM 5.
