Video from Hayes Museum

Someone posted this video taken at the Hayes Museum centering on the first Morgan dollar. Worth a watch.

Re: Heritage 2023 June 12 Error Coinage US Coins Showcase Auction #60323

I threw some bids at a few Morgan errors. Lots to choose from if you're considering adding some errors to your collection, including a few minor, yet extremely rare, off-center errors.

Re: 1923 s Unlisted Radial Die Break with photos

The central detail on both faces was largely absent and the piece did not appear to be struck thru grease or crud. If you see Jon Sullivan at the show when you pick these up, please show it to him and get his opinion. It's a weird looking coin to be certain. Agree. As a mint error, this would be fa...

Re: 2023 VSS/PCGS Bulk Submission #1

JB are you teasing us about pcgs , they must be out of business . i have not seen the coins in 6 months . You must have been first to send me coins in this submission, as accumulating enough coins can take a couple months. PCGS has had the coins for just under two months. They're at the stage where...

Looks like it also took one in the denticles. Cool coin in a soft pack, though!

Re: How do I create a vote thread?

When you create a thread, below the box to enter your text, next to the "attachments" tab, there's a "poll creation" tab. That's where you set it up. Good luck!

Re: Camera and magnification setup

Are you talking about microscope close-ups or full coin pictures? I'm using two entirely different setups for these. Full-coin setup is optimized for quality, microscope optimized for workflow.

The first run of these is sold out. If there is sufficient demand, and I imagine there will be a second wave, I'll get another batch printed.

Re: 1886 O Rotated Reverse

Also, use the wiki's search capabilities. To search for a date with a mint mark, it must be in quotes because of the hyphen, "1886-O". You can use the word "rotated" as an additional search term and you'll get all the varieties for 1886-O that mention being rotated.

How do we pay?
Send me a PM. You'll pay with a check or PayPal. Hopefully a website able to take payments will be running for next year's supplement.

14 of the first print run of 25 are already spoken for.

Re: can't find right vam

One thing that might trip you up is the 2. From your photo, it looks like the lower half is filled. If this is the case, be aware that the die chip that causes this happens later in the die's life, and that there are probably coins from the same dies without the filled 2.

Re: can't find right vam

1902-O is a good date for divide and conquer. There are reverses that are C4, C3, and C4/C3. Then look at the date and mint mark position. This doesn't look like one of the privately made ones.

Re: New 1897-O VAM-6C

😂😂😂 I am working this VERY coin as I login to ask a question I see this. But, the coin I have, has a near date and a low date. Which to you go with first? Lateral position is more important when trying to figure these out. Secondly the obverse has III2-6 as well as III2-10. It also has attributes t...

Printed 2022 Supplements available!

After working out the logistics for this, I'm happy to announce that the 2022 VAM supplement is now available. This booklet covers changes in both Morgan and Peace dollars for 2022. The text descriptions are only for 2022, as a comprehensive list including everything back to 1992 has not yet been me...

These were on the planchet before it was struck, created when the strip was drawn out to the correct thickness.

Re: 1921P potential duplicate listings

I will update the VAM 120A page to say "Discovered by RogerRock as VAM 1BB in 20xx". I'll also add the relevant pictures from Leroy to that page. This will reflect what should have happened when Fogie submitted his coin, which is a revision and a renumbering of VAM 1BB as VAM 120A. I can't really fa...

Re: New Shipping Regulations Prevents Canadian Commerce

This thread cracks me up. Play by the rules or go home. Rules change. By the way, don't bring politics into this forum. I am surprised Messy didn't delete this thread. I'm not going to delete it, but I am going to lock it. Everyone needs to play by the rules. When the rules are too onerous, people ...

Re: New Shipping Regulations Prevents Canadian Commerce

Interesting problem. I looked into this and found conflicting information. FedEx shows collectible coins as specifically being prohibited from importation into Canada. Canada Border Services Agency only shows base metal and counterfeit coins as being prohibited. USPS states is silent about collectib...
