Re: guess which 1888-O

I think that maybe a new string may be in order to develop the thoughts about the Scarface H series, with respect to the fun seek and find from Dennis's original post. The interests I find are the crack up through the denticle as opposed to along side, when the cud formed, through the rim of the coi...

Re: 1884-CC VAM 5...A?

Karma has stepped in again. Glad to see the page update and that the post was in your background working thoughts JR.

Does make you wonder if transfer clash exists in the wild somewhere since this just came up in 2023 ....

Thanks for everyone's opinions and views.

Re: guess which 1888-O

Has the cud under the date formed yet?

I'm not sure if this helps qualify H-1 vs H-2. As I read, it is the BREAK THROUGH the denticle, and the cud is visually shown, but not part of the written description.

When the supplements become available, do they have a VAM kill page for that year's changes ?

Re: guess which 1888-O

If you haven't, go to VAM issue 32 in the newsletter archives (sept 2007 issue 9) to view the progression of the crack. Those old newsletters are wonderful, and I can see that they were a TON of work.

Another great resource and reason to be a menber.

Re: 1884-CC VAM 5...A?

Here you go.... will the stars align for a new listing?

Line form the olive branch to the wing also.

A sincere thanks for those that have contributed. Whether it gets listed or not, clashes are cool!

Re: 1884-CC VAM 5...A?

Thanks for the responses. I will take a pic of the Upper wing clash and post it.

The clash (what I call a bat wing) extends midway from the wing towards the center of the n, but doesn't touch.

Andy, you are on your game!

Re: 1884-CC VAM 5...A?

The only other clash not posted is what I call "the flame" of wing feathers in the field on Liberty's Lips.

1884-CC VAM 5...A?

Does anyone have record of an 1884-CC VAM 5 with neck clash and right wreath clash, or is that not notable?

I would call this VAM 8A EDS. VAM 8A refers to exactly one die pair, while VAM 8 may not. Referring to the coin as VAM 8A EDS removes ambiguity as to which die pair it is. It is not incorrect to call it VAM 8 LDS, but it may be ambiguous.
Thank you for clearing that up.

EDS vs LDS

Good Morning, VAMed out a 21-D. Followed the crack guide which lead me to the VAM 8A, flagged R. However, my coin does not have the triangular fill over the R, but does have 3 breaks though the denticles (among others), wing gouge and polishing lines, so definitely right die. Would this be a VAM 8 L...
