98-S Vam 11?

As there isn't many 98-S Vams to go through, I think this fits LVA's Vam 11... slanted near date, upright mm. Alas, no pic's This coin has a tremendous amount of notable cracks that I don't find mentioned on other 98-S. Obverse- Hair V, Field though hair beneath hair V, U though Cap, Hair though Lib...

Re: 1882-P Vam 14 or 31?

Thanks for your response. The re-posting of your VAM-14 does exist was helpful, I need to get my Discussion Forum searching skills dialed in. The reverse matches the tail gouges as well as the bump in the field by the left talon to a tee. Furthermore, there is no gouge in the eagle neck gap as pictu...

1882-P Vam 14 or 31?

The recent 82-P VAM 20 string spurred me to re-examine my meager 82's and this lost child popped up. I noticed that it had the hair curl gouge which lead me to the VAM 14 which states "MAY NOT EXIST". I then went to the VAM 31 and I believe the cotton gouge and the "1" gouge differ. On the reverse t...

21-D 1P EDS

Been awhile since I shared, let's see how this goes. Bought a new 60mm 2.8 Oshiro lens ($130 ebay) to get the tight shots, very similar to Dennis's Nikon 60mm. Tested with the scribbles and Voila! Ringed in an EDS 1P, formerly a 1AO. Rev major Die Cracks had not formed and the D was grease filled, a...

The 1965 book is the oldest one by LVA.
There is an older VAM reference, published in 1963, that LVA has said inspired him to start his research:
Is This the Klaes 51?

Re: 1900 p.... VAM-Misstrike- Error- What is it?

Update- I now believe this to be a Near Date Vam 5. Near Date, 3 ear lines, Neck gap, tail lines all check out. In the original pics on Vamworld, there is a reference to acid dip. I now believe that the possibility that acid was used at the mint, which pooled in the fields, cutting deeper into the d...

Re: 24-S with a beveled field

Thanks for your responses. Here are a few more images.

Since your response, I have gone back and read the attribution page. I was way overdue in reviewing this as well.

The VAM 2 makes no mention of the doubling of TRUST, please review any samples you may have as well.

Thank you in advance

24-S with a beveled field

Picked up a 24-S AU and I am new to Peace Grade/Vamming. I now understand that the squiggle under dollar is a common clash and unremarkable. However, this Peace has a field bevel in the area, but the Rays are not broken by the clash. I can only surmise that the clash happened and some keen eyed oper...
