Re: Holiday special? (VAM 14.19!)

Super Great Gamble vamnuke-

It's great to know that there are some great coins still out there, raw Black Friday eggs.

Here's mine, $55.54 all in, fields appear proof-like IMHO, LDS.

Re: O/T 2023 Reverse proof Pre order

As expected, 2 of mine suck, but maybe not in 100 years! Field has identical polish points on Peace. Interesting dither pattern to create fields. Neck gap on Morgan Eagles seem to have a more linear pattern. Mint Should have had scribble area as matte field but do not, though the bow field does have...

Re: O/T 2023 Reverse proof Pre order

I guess my point is faith, which is earned not given. When I sent in my UNOPENED set (their rule for first strike/early release) of 2021's, and received back a 67, my mind wandered to... if mine was a 70, swapped for their 67, who would know? And unfortunately "rare" in this case does not equate to ...

Re: O/T 2023 Reverse proof Pre order

Proof coins, IMHO, are a major gateway to nurture collecting. SSDC is the Society of Silver Dollar Collectors, and these fit. The quantities pressed are lower than the greater majority of our Morgans and Peace. And as far as value.. look up a MS-70 2021-D privy Morgan... what is with that Denver Min...

Re: A Different Kind Of VAM Pick

Congrats on your find. I was fortunate to find a set last summer, some with signatures. My lovely wife said buy it now and I did, she knew how long the search can take, and I would advise the same to anyone that finds them. Turned out the set had belonged to Mike Andrew, in great condition, had made...

Re: 8TF

Ok, I get that, but it isn't listed with the 14, unlike the 14.1, 14.1a and 14.10 all listed together because of the lower wings.

Thanks all for the help

Re: 8TF

Guess it's me! Is this the page that you are looking for? http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1878-P_VAM-14A Thanks for asking. On the Main Website page, under Attribution Guides, second item "Attributing 1878-P VAMs". I did a search on the page and do not find 14-A, 14 A, ...

Re: 1921-D guess the grade

I'm going to flip the guess- Dennis is a very wise man and only acts without doubt. As I don't observe any very special VAM marks, and Dennis would rather have PCGS, my guess is an untrained eye at NGC, seeing worn breast feathers and a chin gouge gave it a 58. I would give it a 62 due to chin bump

Re: Diamond in the rough

Looks fantastic. rogerg- Did you also use the finishing glaze?

Now if you can get some calamine lotion on that eagle, those bumps might go away, LOL!

PS- I did figure out that the Diamond was made before 1974 as Mr. Smart changed Realty Companies that year.

Re: Diamond in the rough

Facets and depth make it a bit tougher as you can't get a loop really close. But thanks to the VamWorld members contributions of great images on the site..... Near date..... VAM 20! At least a MS 62 but has a lamination "error" on the neck and the right obverse field, Reverse is Sharp as He77!

Re: Diamond in the rough

These are the numbers on my old containers

3M perfect it 3 Rubbing Compound 059333
3M perfect it 3 Glazing compound 05941

The rubbing compound reduces the harsh scratches and the glaze reduces more and fills like a wax.

Diamond in the rough

Got to keep it fun and hopefully helpful. Picked this up to assuming the label was an afterthought, added to the face, but Bill was Smart and his label is even with the coin. What makes this a little more interesting is that it is not an 82, 83, 84 like the advertisement that "LateDateMorganGuy" sen...

Always the best for info and history. Super nice for a super guy.

If you sent them in all as a bunch, could they reholder the set in sequential order and some special note of your accomplishment?
