I love it. Great set. The hallmark of a true collector.
One has to submit multiple coins to PCGS aiming for a particular grade like VG10 or something to understand.

Re: Heritage 2023 June 12 Error Coinage US Coins Showcase Auction #60323
There was a lot of good material in that sale. I ended up with a few more 1922 peace dollars for the stack. One is almost in medallic alignment.

That's a good question. It requires a interest, desire and skillset beyond numismatics. The best numismatic macro photos I have were taken with a ink pen and check paid to the order of @messydesk

Nowhere near where a 2A2 PCGS MS-64 would hammer.

Yes, I've been Vamboozled a number of times, sometimes by myself, from blurry seller pictures and visual artifacts.

Re: Updated Peace clashing with letter transfer info?
The 'E on reverse' are truly elusive VAMS, almost to the point of abstraction. I think PCGS has one 1D2 and two 1BBs, one of which is misattributed and not actually 1BB at all. I haven't seen the others or looked it up recently. Less than a handful of known clashed Peace specimens that actually have...

They have this. Go to Preferences -> My Profile and Notifications to set it up.Wish they would add a text system for when the auction is close. I've missed a lot of the ones I've watched because it wasn't immediately in front of me.

Re: is G.C. taking over?
Good luck. Heritage does have the best photos by far. GC does not charge a sellers fee on any lots that hammer over 1K. It's 5% for everything else. It looks like GC made some improvements to the image display this week. https://www.greatcollections.com/kb/GreatCollections-Unveils-New-Coin-Image-Vie...

Re: Grading FEES
It currently takes PCGS about 4 months plus a few days to return a regular submission with attribution. It takes ICG about a month with attribution included. I've given ICG a small bit of business in the last couple of years when 3rd party authentication is desired before trading or selling examples...

Re: SSDC Top Pops
The two top 1H coins at PCGS are both EDS. There's the 65 from Dr. Close and another in 65+ that I watched sell on Great Collections a good while back with no attribution cited on the holder. It sold for more than I was willing to pay. The 65+ has since been attributed and added to a PCGS registry s...

Re: SSDC Top Pops
Thank you. Understood. In my defense I had two 1H coins in inventory; one a much later die state than the other. The EDS was purchased from Dr. Close for what it was, cracked out, and submitted to PCGS for grading and attribution. The 'best set' option in the registry of course selected the highest ...

That's a great looking example. I managed to pick one in NGC 65 a few years ago. PCGS called it 64.

Re: is G.C. taking over?
The raw numbers say Great Collections has nearly three times as many Morgans in its auction pipeline right now than Heritage does, and four times the percentage of Morgan VAMs. That suits me just fine. Especially since we lobbied them into keeping the VSS stickers on the slabs. I sent Ian a lot of ...
