Re: DARKSIDE 1923 CHIN BAR VAM 1F
That's a great looking example. I managed to pick one in NGC 65 a few years ago. PCGS called it 64.

Right on. Not having to deal with the 10th percentile of humanity has measurable value.hassle is much less.

Re: is G.C. taking over?
The raw numbers say Great Collections has nearly three times as many Morgans in its auction pipeline right now than Heritage does, and four times the percentage of Morgan VAMs. That suits me just fine. Especially since we lobbied them into keeping the VSS stickers on the slabs. I sent Ian a lot of ...

I like stickers all over my certified coin slabs except for those gold CAC stickers. I always peel those ugly things off.

I've scrubbed several of them off with goo gone or MS 70 trying to remove the remnants of old price stickers. At least I hope that nasty stuff was the remnants of old stickers.

Re: NGC Tampering
Tamper resistance is easily worked around by buying NGC shells from China, unfortunately. That's how I thought that scam had to work, They were using an old NGC insert and label to encapsulate a lesser coin and sealing a new shell around it. I guess it's possible to separate the sonic seal of the N...

Re: 1923D 1S
The cracks certainly align with the image on the 1S page. It looks like there's more going on with the rims pictured on that page though. It will take some time to get high res full coin photos on each wiki page. I'd send it to JB and get his advise on this one. 'If it does not fit, you must acquit'...

That makes the most sense given "wormy S" symmetry. It's hard to imagine damage like that without other indicators.Looks like a beat up die edge to me

Re: peace
I've used http://numismedia.com/ for general general guidance before. For most Peace Dollar VAMs, the best we can do is review recently completed auction sales as DHalladay suggested. There are only a few Peace Dollar VAMS that consistently carry a high premium. Heritage archives. Great Collections ...

On the filled D photographs, I think the difference is mostly perspective related . There is a photo of the VAM 4 micro D on that page for comparison.

Yeah, I also don't have this. Or the 'development' tab on the navigation pane. Think we just got an image of a work in progress that we should say thank you for in advance. Yes, the quoted prices seem a little out of line with the current market  That'll be a real benefit when it's populated.
