Re: Interesting GSA dollar

Most of my damaged GSA's are hardpacks that have issues, cleaning, knife marks, etc. Softpacks tend to have counting wheel marks, I have not seen this filing before. Pretty wild. I have pics of a hardback where they tested scrubbing off toning. The coin was fully toned and they wire brushed half of ...

Re: Back from NGC

I don't think I ever shot the 1889-CC GSA. I saw it many times before it sold a couple years ago. The 1893-CC was known for a long time where it was, but the owner did not want it slabbed. NGC has seen a few fakes over the years then accidentally called a 1883-CC 63PL a 1893-CC 63PL. That pushed the...

Re: Indicating PL rarity

It is always interesting to lump PL DMPL together since they are some weird variances. There are dates very common in PL and yet elusive in DMPL (1900-O, 1901-O, 1921-P) and dates where DMPL exceeds PL (1889-CC). Just a thought as grouping them may not tell the whole story. As a DMPL/PL collector my...

Re: U.S. Mint Morgan Dollar Bags

Yes I have a few and there are a few pictured on this thread. I had a few about 5 years ago and expect this is the last group I will ever have.

Re: Part 2 of the 1884-CC and 1883-O Branch Mint Suspects

I imaged the 1885-CC branch mint proof years before it got graded. It has an very different look to it than other coins of the date. The coins you pictured don't have a look that seems much different than others for the years. The don't look hammered, frosty, or anything of real significance. I am i...

Re: GSA CC Mint bags

Someone forwarded me a letter a few weeks ago where the the GSA said the had yet to determine what to do with the bags. The letter was dated 12/13/77. In reality there are some out there. There are some CCMint bags that appear to be GSA bags, and some are not. The GSA bags have writing on the back t...
