Thought I'd give this a bump to see if anything shakes loose.

The top of the 6 might be doubled. And maybe the inside of the ear.Vam-mysterio wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 5:57 pmClose up pictures of the 1-86

Need some help with an 86 P
Thought it would be pretty easy to figure out which VAM this one is with the obvious PUP's it has. Long polish lines in the hair and longer and fatter ones in the tailfeathers. But after a couple trips through the list I'm drawing a blank. So, I'm turning it over to the pros who've seen a whole lot ...

If you Google Breen 7114, you'll find a few in ANACS holders that are labeled this way. Just looks like a mechanical error. A slash instead of a dash.

Nope, no clashing. That'll have to be a pick for another day.

Re: Pick this week surprised me...1882 O/S VAM 3
Wow, great find and nice job with the dip, luster still appears present and you removed 99.9% of the dark tarnish preserving the coin never mind appreciating its value. How did you see that O/S with those pics. I couldn't see much on the reverse. I pulled it up on my phone, zoomed in on the mintmar...

Before and after pics. You decide if a dip was the right move. I truly believe that it was the toning that kept people from looking. Well, that and the low bids.

Pick this week surprised me...1882 O/S VAM 3
I came across this one Monday unattributed on the bay. Even through the toning I could see the heavy lines in the ear and hair so I felt sure it was a VAM 3, Couldn't really see a lot going on inside of the mintmark but I knew there had to be something there. My other VAM 3 is a late die state and I...

Re: 1902 O VAM 101 - New C4 Micro O Family counterfeit die pair
JB has verified and set up the page. It isn't listed on the counterfeit page yet,collectinsince65 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 1:53 pmAwesome pickup!
Did JB or JR attribute as 101?
Look forward to seeing the listing on 1902 o page!
Another cc to add to the radar.
Congrats!!
Thanks

1902 O VAM 101 - New C4 Micro O Family counterfeit die pair
This one pairs the obverse from VAM 63 with the reverse from 1901-O VAM 67. Picked it up from the bay. The seller's pictures were good enough to see rounded edges so I felt pretty sure it was counterfeit. But the date and mint mark didn't match VAM 92, the only other 02-O C4 privately made, so I was...

Need help confirming 1901-O VAM 67 (Privately made) reverse
This one appears to match the LVA description and plates. It has rounded edges and curved lines below the right wing. The mint mark looks right. Have also found a couple of the dings shown in the field images. A picture of the full reverse would be very helpful, but as always, so will your thoughts....

If that was an attempt to add detail, they radically failed.
Oh well. Thanks for the info. Guess I'll note this one as being in need of an upgrade.

1878 S long nock VAM 27 A: Over buffed - Pre or Post
Pretty certain I have the attribution right. It has the broken D, N, and denticle. I can see the die wear at DOL. And there is a die chip above the top arrow feather. But the buffing has me at a loss. Easily, 60-70% of everything on both sides has what looks to be a buffing halo. I have a 1891 O VAM...

Re: 1902 O VAM 67 Privately Made
While researching a coin I was looking to buy, I saw the note on the 1901 O VAM 60 page, "C3 type reverse with III O mint mark titled slightly to right similar to 1900-O VAM-22C1 counterfeit, but no confirmation of same die or same copied coin." I think that can be confirmed. When comparing the reve...

1902 O VAM 67 Privately Made
Picked this up from the Bay this week. Pretty sure it's a VAM 67. Has the gouge in the denticles at the neck point and a C3 reverse. Even though it's a higher grade than the other privately made I have, it's hard to see the crack at STATES. (Looks to me to be around VF 40-45.) One other thing I noti...

1888 VAM 11A... but with a scratch
Picked this unattributed off the bay recently. I'm pretty sure about the attribution. My question is about the scratch above her cap.
Is this bad enough to get a details grade?
