Re: 1883 O/O VAM 4 Grump with PCGS Questionable Color

Thanks for the good perspective and the information. I have no idea how the coin got that toning - it was strange to me. I had took out 5 other Morgans that went in the same way with no problems at all. Just odd. I wrote PCGS an email with my protest - so I am 99 percent sure that this coin will sta...

1883 O/O VAM 4 Grump with PCGS Questionable Color

Hey all - I sent this coin in for grading to PCGS and it was sacked with "questionable color". Odd to me because I bought and put that coin away more than 10 years ago and it was pristine. I got it out when I decided to have it graded, and found this really cool (In my opinion of course) toning on t...

Coin Trivia Fun Post - did you know? (I did not)

The 2019 Silver Proof Set is the first Silver Proof Set from the US Mint with the silver coins minted in 99.9 percent fine silver. Yes, 99.9 and not the 90 which is typical coin silver. Essentially the Quarters, Half, and Dime in this set are silver bullion quality coins. You may ask yourself; why t...

Re: Opinions on 1883O VAM4

Thanks again - I checked above the d and did not detect an anomaly under the scope or under magnification. The top cap did appear to have some odd surface though I am not certain it matched the beveling in your image. That is a very nice resource by the way.

Re: 1886-S - VAM 2 or 4 or...

I see a shade of a latent serif on the upper right and lower left of the mm - but I cannot see the split on either serif - my eyes are not that great though, I would have to really zoom in on it to see if there is a split. If it were a VAM, I believe it would be a 4 - but I cannot tell for sure........

Opinions on 1883O VAM4

Good afternoon all - do you think that this coin shows enough to be considered a VAM 4? I was thinking about getting it graded, but am 50-50 on it. Thanks for any comment.

Re: 1901 O Possible Discovery Coin

Thanks again for looking. Here are two close pics from a bit different angle. It would not surprise me if it were PMD. I am going to get my scope out to see if I can get anything closer that could be useful.

1901 O Possible Discovery Coin

I found a Morgan that has what appears to my untrained eye to be a die break above the leaves in the wreath to the viewer's left of the eagle. It is just above or to the right of the third cluster of leaves on the viewer's left. I looked for any kind of attribution though I could not find any. Does ...
