Collector's East Coast vs West Coast

All this mostly IMHO, except verified by several large coin dealers from both Coasts. Over many yrs collecting, interfacing with many collector's and dealers it is very apparent that people from each distinct areas, East coast vs West coast think and act very differently. East coast coin folk tend t...

Re: 1900-S VAM-3

If only i had abilities to have/develop pic's like these, I would be a very successful seller due to size and scope of my collection. Unfortunately i must rely on Auctions like Heritage who really know their stuff, having prof personel at all levels. All sucks but this old dog not willing to change ...

Re: 1891 O Vam 1A not 4

i totally agree/2nd the motion of coin needing a VSS STICKER.
Thats a real dandy with Bill Fivaz pedigree and then to have VSS 1A3 would really
top it off. Take the time & a few bucks to get ur done.

Re: 1891 O Vam 1A not 4

Since 91-0 vam 3A1 & 3A2 that i love, have seemingly fallen off a cliff value wise I have been concentrating on 91-0 vam 1A3 because of cool error and SSDC /etc value. i have picked 3 in last couple months Great pick/congrads & thanks for great pic's Now lets hope value stays decent!!

Re: are eBay buyers clueless?

It is very common/daily to see these varied prices received on Fleabay, because some buyers just dont do research, and the bidding hype also gets involved. This is why we see details/cleaned and lower graded Morgans bring crazy money periodically. Buyer beware if you are not ready to do some pricing...

Re: OT; Thanksgiving Break

Thanks much for posting this amazing die break reverse. I personally didnt get into anything other than Morgan dollars and U S gold coinage. Often wished i had expanded my collecting horizons a bit, but instead ended up with a Morgan collection comparible to Redfield, which still blows me away. Will...

Re: Impact of Rim Ding on grading

Because she has that large ding and will be a details coin anyway i would give her a decent bath to remove all that black on reverse as it cant but help. I would send to Anacs not PCGS/NGC as Anacs will give a numerical net grade and that helps to determine final value, which Details coins average a...

Re: Stolen coins

Theft at public & private places has always been rampant especially if coins and bullion are involved. Having a real secure safe is paramount. Public venues like coin shows, flea mks etc should have extra precautions on place. More than one person at a sale table, locked displays, and security of so...

Re: Stolen coins

After working my ass off selling some 10k i was tired and hungry and decided to head south on 1-5 Entering Tacoma Wa i was starved and saw a hooters off 1-5 an...

1878 7/8 vam 38 E BAY

Pretty amazing how some otherwise common vams have maintained value while other much rarer/tougher ones have fallen off the cliff, with some cool ones losing 50-70% value. Yesterday a 1878 7/8 tf vam 38 brought $2k and change which was but a few hundred less than 2015 Vam View retail valuation. Prob...

Giving up posting any For Sales as its a total waste of time/energy Not even a speck of interest for long time, which shows hows our poor varieties are doing as a whole.
