love seeing these threads. crack/break map templates are priceless. truly
for those that want to tinker with such a thing, the process sounds virtually identical to some things i've done with paint.net. the ability to add/select/deselect layers is easy as checking a little box or not.

Re: 1921 Peace Dollar With Possible “Extra Hair” Die Break
looks like unusual damage from the pic where you can see the whole obverse. with the neck taking a hit i would really lean towards a damaged but graded coin. almost thought counterfeit but didn't want to jump to conclusions.

It has the same obverse die as other 1893-O Privately-Made, with the dash above the "B". congratulations! i got the links to work by deleting everything before the url address and thankfully as i really wanted to see that coin. designscomputed.com/coin_pics/VAM/DC_1893o_...

i really like how often you link to the attribution pages. SO much time and effort has gone into those, it'd be a shame not to use em.messydesk wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 3:02 amCheck this link from the 1878 page: 7/8 Attribution Guide.
The pictures are all quite usable.

Re: 1878-S VAM-1i Rev, Unlisted Obv Die
RE: "how are these numbers affected by shared dies between mints, different years of coins and reworked dies?" These were dies used by and destroyed by the San Francisco Mint for 1878. Mints did not share dies and there are no extant records about the quantities of repaired dies. All dies cycled th...

In 1878 The San Francisco Mint used 90 obverse and 84 reverse dies for the standard silver dollar. [ Ref: RG104 E-229 Box 16 of 17 ] how are these numbers affected by shared dies between mints, different years of coins and reworked dies? not looking for specifics, just general commentary. nice resu...

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback. Apart from the 'PUP's' mentioned, another one is the Die Chip on the eagle's right wing. As for experience cleaning with chemical's, I have none. Will leave this for a later date. acetone won't hurt that coin in probably a hundred year soak and a high probabil...
