for those that want to tinker with such a thing, the process sounds virtually identical to some things i've done with paint.net. the ability to add/select/deselect layers is easy as checking a little box or not.

looks like unusual damage from the pic where you can see the whole obverse. with the neck taking a hit i would really lean towards a damaged but graded coin. almost thought counterfeit but didn't want to jump to conclusions.

yet another ultra-rarity.

I just acquired this piece. It has the same obverse die as other 1893-O Privately-Made, with the dash above the "B". congratulations! i got the links to work by deleting everything before the url address and thankfully as i really wanted to see that coin. designscomputed.com/coin_pics/VAM/DC_1893o_...

is the heritage coin double-struck or just have a LOT of recutting? perhaps one of the working dies spiffed up to strike some special pieces?

Welcome. All Morgan and Peace dollars are vams, some are just worth a lot more than others. What you have on the "S" in PLURIBUS is a strike thru and/or an impurity streak. Vams are not identified by these. Hope this helps.
