Re: 1878 VAM 9 First Die Pair
Congrats on the 78-P VAM-9, nice find, good job . It's a great piece, the hole can be repaired but it's still going to be a details coin which is okay for a rare piece of history. So now you you're part of "this thing of ours".

Nice VAM! I don't have much experience with PEACE dollars so I had to look it up. Very interesting, I stray over to the dark side occasionally.

The trick here will be the grade, so what's the consensus grade?

Nice pick! Great coin as a stand alone and to add the VAM-5 attribution puts it over the top.

If you're asking about TPG grading prospects, my first thought is UNC details: cleaning. The coin looks dipped to me but it could be photo lighting. For straight grade without the TPG concern, Ill split the difference with Dennis and Juan, AU-53.

Re: SSDC Registry Question
PEACE 1923 VAM-11B is listed on the SSDC census list, so I would assume it would be there to register it. There is 1 coin on the list, a MS-63.

They're probably holding the Bunny's coins on purpose. I'll bet his picture is posted on their bulletin boards!

Re: Values of our Vams in General
Good post and enjoyable to read. I'm not that concerned with the market values anymore. I'm a Morgan Dollar/VAM collector at heart whose only problem is that I want more than I can pay for. When I first joined SSDC, most of my VAMs were raw cherry picked and I'd send them off to PCGS to get graded a...

Sorry, we can all empathize... But boy, it was as exciting as hell right up to the disappointment. That emotional condition is Vamanic Depressive, usually goes away with the next cherry pick.

Re: VAM 60 Long Nock pixs
Dennis, That's an extraordinary VAM and beautiful pics!!! If you ever get the time, I'd love to see the whole coin obv/rev and any other features you care to point out. This is one on my favorite VAMs on par with the 78-P VAM-9 but so rare I'll probably never have one, especially at this grade. Than...
