Re: Pitting on 1921-D VAM-1o EDS

Thank you all for a great site! From the photos it looks to me like there is a depression in the middle of several if those bumps. If ya find a newly chipped asphalt drive somewhere and lay a nice Morgan down on said drive and run over it with a VW (for example) you should get a similar surface. Wat...

Re: Fuzzed Chin DDO

Thanks Eschaton I agree. The 10x is all you need for this sport, and that magnified coin surface and those disruptions in what I think are flow lines are all very interesting... 'I don't think we are ever going to see die file lines attempting to repair a Strike Doubled Coin.' ;) That is why I was l...

Hello Bob, I hope this helps with your catches out of the Bay: ;) Fly fishing.jpg Hey Bob. You got me thinking; again... UNCLE BINGO I will keep an eye out if I see one of those because that slot is empty for now anyway ... I have been thinking about that Slot opening you have available... Please consider this speculative observation. The first two photographs of our 1923-P VAM-1CK page, found under Additional Photos...

Hi G , Man I don't have a picture of one , I don't think I own one at the present , and the one I did have like 10 months ago might be being used in a dentist office in a third world country by now but it came with a "Cleaned Guarantee" As the lure of the Darkside keeps pulling this gentle tu...

Re: 1923-P_Lost in the 'Polished Triangle 19'

The triangular polished area(s) seem to be correlative - meaning you see enough coins you will see similar 'things' but they might not be related. Because they're found on multiple different varieties suggests there might have been some part of the process (or multiple parts) that created a rub or ...

1923-P_Lost in the 'Polished Triangle 19'

Hello everyone. Thanks for this great site of keen observation! I am looking for photographs of any 1923-P Peace Dollar with a polished area between the '1' and the '9' of the DATE. Hopefully a photo would include the Bust Point and part of the Neck Line with any die cracks/brakes cutting through. H...

Re: Dark side Pawn shop pic (Maybe. Maybe NOT)1923-D

Thanks for all the updates and comparisons. I have been interested in acetone use. Please consider bathing coins one at a time... I may be thinking of the chemical aspect on uncirculated coins...regardless 'stuff from one [coin] can react with the stuff on the other.' This may only be noticed after ...

A little acetone bath in that area , Will also help Thanks for input! I am contemplating giving this whole coin the fully submerged acetone bath; but I am also considering a treatment on the coin in just the area of those striations pointed out on this 1879-S pictured above. Hey Bob, I am thinking I need to try and clarify my post above: "Most of the coins I own and photograph are circulated and heavily worn. This 1879-S I photographed for this thread is a lot better than I am used to working with; making it more fun to photograph." I need to work on communication skill...
