Re: 1923 S Peace dollar double clash spikes VAM?

It does seem to have an obverse small chip on ray below B and a chip above O on reverse. Thanks David for sharing your knowledge. Mark

1923 S Peace dollar double clash spikes VAM?

I have this 1923 S Peace dollar with reverse double clash spikes. I've looked at all the listed ones on VAMWORLD and cannot find a match. Maybe I missed it. Of all the double clashed spikes shown on VAMWORLD mine seems to be the same reverse die and clashes position match to VAM-1CY. But this variet...

Re: VAM? 1922 S Pease obv. berry clash, rev. clashes

Hi crabscrape, I don't understand your comment. What do you mean or who are you referring to when you said "play DUMB and expect the real experts.....?" I've only been VAMing about a year and six months. I am learning. I posted the coin to get opinions about its attribution. Members here and on anot...

Re: VAM? 1922 S Pease obv. berry clash, rev. clashes

Hey all, I got the coin back from Leroy. He sent a kind note and a page of current guidelines for sending him coins. He highlighted with a marker the part about clashes without letter transfer don't get listed and single spikes don't get listed unless they are longer than mine. So the coin is a VAM-...

Re: VAM? 1922 S Pease obv. berry clash, rev. clashes

Thanks VernP,
The clashes on your 26s 1AF1 do look like my 22S clashes. The clashed rays on mine are shifted a little different. I went ahead and sent the coin to Leroy. I'll let you all know what he said when I get it back.

Re: VAM? 1922 S Pease obv. berry clash, rev. clashes

Hi, In front of LIberty's forehead and hair, the clash fades away before there would be any E transfer, at least I cannot see anything with 10x. I do see a little of the eagle's back feather where the rays begin. I'm undecided whether to send this coin to Leroy. Without letter transfer I assume a ne...

Re: VAM? 1922 S Pease obv. berry clash, rev. clashes

Wow, that would be nice to have a new variety. I don't know if the address for Leroy on the supplements page is current and correct? Would Leroy be able to look at my photos posted here or I could email the pics to him and determine if it's a new variety? Thanks for comments.

Re: VAM ID help please 1922 S Pease dollar

Hi davidkclose, You are correct about the reverse. Thanks for pointing it out. With 10x it does appear there is only one spike clash and maybe there is no VAM number for this coin. You'd think with the obv./rev. clashes there would be. Hello jrfaust, Here's more pics I took using bulb light and indi...

Re: 1878 8TF 14.2... N clash?

Hi TheYokel, That is a nice looking coin. Looks like there may be a faint letter transfer, holding it in hand with a 10x magnifier would help. There's so much other going on with the coin the lack of letter transfer isn't a big deal. Sometimes multiple clashes cancel out and eliminate letter transfe...

Re: New 8TF variety?...

I don't know much but I'm learning. Check out VAM-14.2 and the guide for non assigned varieties where it says there's a late die state of VAM-14.2 with die cracks not significant enough to warrant a new number. The photo of die crack behind Liberty's head looks like yours. The position of the neck c...

VAM? 1922 S Pease obv. berry clash, rev. clashes

Hello, I'm trying to identify the VAM number for this 1922 S Peace dollar. I'm leaning toward VAM-1F according to the position of the spike clash. There are file lines and seems to be a very faint second spike. Obvious clash areas on obv. and rev. but I can't find any matching photos on VAMWorld. Th...

1935 P Peace clash spike?

Hello, I want to buy a nice 1935 P Peace dollar. While browsing ebay I noticed two that seem to have clash spikes on eagle's shoulder. But I could not find this listed on VAMWorld. Did I miss it or is this an unlisted variety? See seller pics which become out of focus when zoomed in. I know there ar...

El Cortez Casino 1895 O Morgan

Hi, Thought I'd share my first casino Morgan, El Cortez 1895 O, though very worn. Casino Morgans and those from other well known collections are kinda cool. Also for fun I posted two of my ancient coins, Nero AR tetradrachm from Antioch, Syria; Claudius AE asserion from Rome. The Nero coin has an ea...

1882 CC VAM-2C3?

Hi, I've been buying VAM Morgans for several months now. I like the clashed varieties and decided I should have a GSA in box. I watched them on ebay for a couple weeks. Some seller photos are bad or not close up so it can be hard to tell if a coin is clashed. I saw this one and bought it. The seller...

1878 P 8TF VAM-19 broken O

Hello, I just got this coin on ebay. I took the pics. I've seen a few photos of this variety online but none with a reverse broken O (OF). I'm rather new to this but in my opinion it looks like this happened when struck, not damaged after it left the mint. There are some scuffs on the slab. Any thou...

Re: 1900-O VAM-15 or VAM-15A

Hello ChiefRet., Thanks for responding! Yes I did see the lower photo for VAM-15 with clashing. I thought either the photo should be moved to VAM-15A or the description for VAM-15 should include clashing without lettering. My coin shows no gouges or markings on or near In God We Trust. I'll edit my ...

1900-O VAM-15 or VAM-15A

Hello, I have collected ancient coins for over twenty years and love them. Just in the last four months I began to collect Morgans and learn about VAMs so I am a newbie to this arena. I joined this sight today. I like Morgan doubling and clash varieties. I recently bought a 1900-O with star doubling...
