Re: 1923-D obv crack pattern question
Looks like there may be 'help fatigue' or a certain apathy to help based on competing priorities - which I completely understand! In my quest to figure this out, I've noted that the closest matches are http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1923-D_VAM-1G2 and http://ec2-13-58-2...

Re: Can't find Die Crack pattern in 1923 D Peace Dollar Listing
Definite machine doubling going on. As for the crack pattern(s)... oy. There are SO many of them this year and mint. I'm struggling with my own and, unfortunately, can't really help you b/c there are multiple listings that don't have corresponding pictures - as you've experienced. Hopefully some of ...

@davidkclose, I know you're a rocking busy person but any way you could glance at this to relieve my (self-induced) stuckness? Or any other Peace gurus?

Re: Lack of posting topics and overall interest
My comment was more generic than specific. As an outsider to VAMs, I see so much knowledge, information, skills and possibility among experienced members. Yet, together almost nothing is done to understand and respond to potential new enthusiasts....or to capture and stimulate those who venture to ...

I think you're on to something... and your pictures might help others down the road. Keep looking for those VAM-4s as they are out there!

Re: 1902P-VAM-4.........T100
Sorry, I disagree. No doubling of the ear or hair above the ear that I can easily see - but maybe this is simply the angle/light of the photos. I also don't see any doubling of the eyelid. Here are two close up pictueres from an ANACS verified coin that might help you: 1902-P_V4_2xear_details_GRed.j...

And.... the results are? What did you VAM it to be? Curiosity is lingering around me on this, too... I think I have my guess but without addtional pictures (bow, trust, etc.) it's a wild guess. What say ya, mts ... ya wanna throw us some bones to chew on (oh, and keep helping you ID this lovely one)?

Re: 1923-D obv crack pattern question
Thanks, jrfaust . I agree that crack lines don't equate to new listings but the recent changes a long time in the coming indicate we're heading toward die marriages versus generic descriptions with or without the use of differing die numbers (things like 36.1, 36.2, or die #1, die #2, etc.). A crack...

1923-D obv crack pattern question
J'ai mal à la tête... After giving it a non-darkside gipper go, I've failed to ID the variety on not the worst Peace dollar cracking potential year and mint combo, but I feel like it is... ANY benevolent and gracious help from eyes and heads more resilient to this stuff would be greatly appreciated....

Re: Positive Mis attribution stories wanted
Thought I submitted this earlier but it didn't show up. So... I used to live in Toronto around the time the sitcom "Friends" was really popular. I used to get stopped on the streets and asked for my autograph as I supposedly looked like Matthew Perry. Is this a positive mis attribution? Might be unt...

Re: 1878-P 'broken N & M' obv die incest ordering?
Ah, duh, hub issue not die-related - I remember that now! Makes sense. Sorry I failed to mention the comment about clashing was about VAM-200. Nice reminder that the VAM-145 might have additional fun to find. Here are FCOs for the two VAM-145s I own that both show clash lines but not necessarily let...

Re: 1880-P VAM-19B
Really depends on the grade, right? I have a PCGS40 coin so I'd like to know, too, but I suspect no real premium on mine. Anything above an AU53 would be scarce according to SSDC registry numbers?

1878-P 'broken N & M' obv die incest ordering?
Sorry if this has been asked before. Curious if there's any speculation or study about the ordering of VAMs 31/40/110/162/200 with the lovel 'broken N & M' obverse? The 40 and 200 lack the crack from the denticle through the first left star to the neckpoint, 145 and 162 start to show it, and 31 and ...

Welcoming you in, too. Helping educate is part of the process so often you might not get your answer directly. This is to 'help you fish', if you will, instead of giving you fish to eat. (Or just providing the beer that always goes along with the activity...) Best guide is the engraved feather regio...

Re: 1898 Vam 10 or 12?
Brilliant but another frustration of the VW1.0 to VW2.0 switch. Not everything could be carried over. Might mention it was a VW1.0 verification but, then again, might not matter. As long as it was it should help clarify the differences between the two.
Thanks, Gary
