Fantastic and showing how a keen eye - with verification - can advance the fun.
Contrats and money well spent.

Re: 1885-P VAM-??
Boy looks like a 1G in some ways but the date doesn't match up? Don't think it this quite yet but some of the reverse cracks look similar - but not identical.
Definitely not a 1A.

Yes, congrats, and YES, pictures please.
To enjoy it through you is almost like enjoying it in hand. OK, that that's a lie - not even close, but you get my 'I'm trying to be more happy for you than I am insanely jealous' gist...

SSDC shows zero straight 14s registered... I'm honored to own the 14A DC and have a few other ones but these don't help the hunt for what appears to be a very elusive precursor.

Be interested to see if this is a straight 14 and not just a worn-down 14A.

Re: Scarce EDS of 78-S VAM 16 now VAM 16A
Interesting, the 1991 original 'big book' only mentioned the one with the massive scratch into the field with clear picture of it. I2/R4 supposedly - thankfully we're not using I and R ratings anymore... this is a good example of those maybe being true-ish at some time but neither the case now! Love...

Crikey, mate. What a coin! I'll need to look at my 50 to make sure it is a 50 - mine is beat up for sure, but still in hand!

Re: 1878 S NGCMS64 VAM 28
Nice looking. Looks like your has some machine doubing on the letters. I have three different coins and each show different degrees on the E (the one with the blob): one slightly less than yours, one barely noticeable and one completely blobbed without any doubling. My VAM-16 doesn't show any letter...

Re: 1923-P VAM Question
Nice find on the 1923 VAM 1AC2. Any variety with a nickname is special as in this case "Whisker Chin". Twin clash spikes off the eagle's shoulder, intersecting die cracks forming an X below eagle's talon, and line through D are interesting die markers. Recently, my 1923 VAM 1AC2 specimen received a...

Great job pickin Bert; My next challenge for you is: 1878 S vam 18A Good Luck my friend I have a sneaky suspicion that he has one (or more) already. If not, I'll gently remind him/us what the radial die crack looks like. This picture if from my NGC61 coin... not the best lighting (sorry) but a dand...

One of my favorite coins! To the point of attempting a bit of holiday fun in the past: http://www.vamworld.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5980&p=50301 . The PCGS 64 I have on hand looks to be in a similar die state as yours. I don't apparently see the same potential O/O: 82Ov38B P64 mm detail GRed.jp...

I'll take your rant accusing me of being some kind of elitist (let alone an abusive anything) as some profound hurt and frustration you're harboring - and choose to not reply in any fashion that doesn't help the conversation. I requested pictures from you to help... as did LateDateMorganGuy and lewi...

Re: 1885-S VAM-6 Denticle Impressions?
Nothing from me. I'd simply like to have an 85-S with as much luster and lack of wear as this one appears to have. Tough to find above circulated grades, eh? Oh, wait. I do have one! A CAC NGC64... here's the same area.
I don't see anything, sorry.

Re: 1878s VAM-109
If there is a coin with eye spikes that look 'absolutely nothing' like the VAM-109 plate picture, the coin is not a VAM-109. (Please note I'm choosing to not textually 'yell' back at you with capital letters - 8-) - let's all keep our cool here, eh?) The FCP and other pictures of the VAM-100 (the ne...

We all have a choice to post or continue a post - or not. We'll support your decision whatever it might be. I, personally, encourage learning from these experiences, not giving up. To me your question and follow up questions were ambiguous so you received different answers than you expected. I caugh...

We all need to be careful with our words - 'Please consider for discovery' is a lot different than 'Hey, anyone seen something lik...
