No update yet on date of release on next edition of CHERRYPICKERS' GUIDE. All the supply dealers I know have been sold out of any CHERRYPICKERS' GUIDE for quite some time.

1921 P Morgan VAM 3A1B/3A1C
I have a 1921 P VAM 3A1B with die gouge from tail feathers. The die scratch from left wreath to left star is weak and incomplete. There is pitting from first A (AMERICA) towards the rim. Coin is AU 58 White. Would you still call it VAM 3A1C ?

Re: a long OT: my new 1567 dollar
THANKS for the pictorial and discussion on Scotland Ryal (s). Interpretation of overstrikes on old crown size coins is fascinating work! I managed to unscramble the host coin date on two different Brazil 960 Reis. The 1817-R was overstruck on an 1816 Spain Madrid GJ 8 Reales (ANACS XF 45 Details) an...

Re: 1924-P: How would you attribute this Rim?
I am learning also a clash on the obverse of a Peace Dollar is a rare thing. I have only found information on one so far in my search for some kind of comparison. It is on a 1921 Peace Vam-1AC:DKC1921_VAM_1AC.jpg I will get more photos once I have the coin in hand... Thanks for the input. Reason fo...

Re: 1924-P: How would you attribute this Rim?
Rim errors are caused by several different mechanical and die installation mishaps. Many double rims occur from vertical and/or horizontal misalignment of obverse/reverse die. Malfunction of the third die (collar die) can result in partial collar errors. Collar clashes occur when a misaligned hammer...

Re: 1922 Peace D over D?
That low shelf on right side of D is strike doubling/machine doubling which is very common on Peace $ devices. My advice on learning about true repunched mint marks (RPMs) is to study photos of listed RPMs. John Wexler has an excellent web site online with superb photos at Wexler's Coins and Die Var...

Re: 1887 s Reverse Planchet Error!
Welcome to VAMWorld ! Many folks are confused about what constitutes an error or a variety (VAM). An error is a planchet, die, or strike mishap. A variety is a design change on the die itself. The reverse of this 1887 S shows a defective planchet error, specifically, a lamination. Pressure from the ...
