Yes, here's mine..
THANKS Mark ! Looks similar to mine. I believe I see the beveled field towards denticles above OF on your PCGS specimen VAM 1B1 also. Does your piece show die break across top of E (obverse) following die crack as elevated above adjacent normal letter E height?

Re: Can Anyone help Identify This 1922 D Peace Dollar?

ANACS has only graded two 1922 D VAM 16 B , both as AU 58. My DC piece was purchased around 18 years ago from Jim's Coins & Stamps Auction. The coin languished in an NGC holder after they failed to honor my paid attribution retained cud request. Resubmitted to ANACS in 2016 and finally got respectfu...

Beveled Field Capped R

Will a "beveled field" still be a listable die feature or just used as a die marker? I have a VLDS 1921 D VAM 1B1 with displaced field breaks : above and below tip of bust top of E and above rim to rim Obverse above BU below LA above ED Reverse strong full Capped R Break Heavily polished right wing,...

Strike-thru

Under the New Revised "Guidelines for Die Varieties" there is need for a correction under the "What is Not Eligible" heading. In fact, a strike-thru is not a planchet flaw. A strike-thru is a striking error!!

Re: Can Anyone help Identify This 1922 D Peace Dollar?

Nice find BJ. Does your coin display reverse collar clash with rim die break? Both 16A and 16B exhibit this PUP on reverse at 4 -5 o'clock.

Re: Incomplete planchet clipped 1921 in the vam-3 area

Nice Clipped Planchet ! Weakness in lower wreath leaves is not post mint. Many 1921 Morgans exhibit this lack of detail in the lower wreath leaves. Quality control was suspect when the massive mintage of 1921 dollars occurred in a short period of time. Struck through debris may be the cause of these...

Re: ICG crossover to PCGS

Imagine it depends on the coin. ABSOLUTELY - I submit hopeful upgrades to PCGS only occasionally from ICG graded specimen. I feel like a fair grade is awarded only if coin is submitted raw. Two memorable submissions resulted in UPGRADE from VF 35 (ICG) into XF 40 PCGS holders. 1844 Liberty Seated D...

Re: I find it difficult to pass up a cud

Congrats - Great Pickup Cuds will always be a "Big Thing" because they represent the physical termination of the die's service. Normally, the mint will immediately pull a broken die from service in order to preserve quality control standards. Full blown cuds are exceedingly scarce and valuable on si...

Re: Retained Cud? 1H2 or 1H3?

Your photos show die breaks consistent with VAM 1H2. The field displacement left of stars 1 -2- 3 is much higher on VAM 1H3. Furthermore, rim displacement is evident opposite star 4 in the second and third additional photos on VAM 1H3.

Re: Broken Planchet with Rim Clip

It just so happens, I own a 1921 Peace $ PCGS MS 63 Rim Clip @ 6:00 which appears at first glance to read 1021 at the date. The tail on the 9 did not strike up because of the clip. A key date such as this with an error (rim clip) that affects the date makes the eye appeal increase for me. Most avera...

Re: 1921-D... VAM 1K2 or 1K3?

Looks similar to my ANACS AU 58 VAM 1K3 attributed by LVA and JR.
Your photo shows extra metal on obverse rim above E and denticles that is not apparent on my specimen.

Re: 1922-P Super Rim Clip

Nice rim clip at 11:00 Tom. That flattened depressed area at 4:00 is the Blakesley Effect which occurs in the upset mill where the rim is formed. The missing metal from the clip causes an incomplete rim on the opposite edge due to reduced pressure from the upset mill.
