Re: 1921 P VAM 32A "Capped A" Die Break Progression

Back from Leroy - "VAM 32A Revised. Yes, has added displaced field at 2nd left star at bottom left. Rev may have slightly beveled field at top left & rt fields, but toning precludes getting good photo of curvature-- so pass on listing it." Plate photo and letter will be posted at a later date. ANACS...

Re: 1921-D VAM-1AQ Without the Cud?

Designation of new VAM listings are attributed by Leroy (only). Sometimes an early die stage of a late die state is attributed as a "Revision". Recent example is 1921 P VAM 8B Revision which shows dot at wing -scribbles - die scratch G - displaced field break at lips - beveled denticles - WITHOUT Di...

Re: 1880-S 8/7 with reverse Lamination error or broken die?

A strike-thru error caused by debris between the planchet and die when the coin is struck. This debris always leaves a depressed area on the coin. Occasionally, the debris may be retained.

Re: Fun W/21 Help!

My contributions on 1921 D Morgan VAMS as NEW/REVISED Late Die State are well documented on the VAM PAGE. Coincidental JOH numbers which relate to my New Discovery pieces are: 1BQ = JOH 9 Discovery VAM 1BQ2 and 1DG2 Discovery VAM = JOH 28

Here's my coin. It has the nose crack, but nothing approaching a DFB resulting from it, and the star L2 cracks don't look DFB-ish either:

Thanks Dennis for your photos. Die crack thru date without die chip on 2 is very similar to my specimen.

1921 P VAM 32A "Capped A" Die Break Progression back from Leroy

Wonder if anyone has seen this VAM in late die state without die chip on inside bottom of 2 ? My ANACS MS 64 VAM 32A displays obverse die crack from nose down between left stars 3 -4 with possible displaced field. Displaced field break also visible at left star 2 bottom and left. Reverse "Capped A" ...

Both of my VAM 58s have light beveling in the denticles above S _O like your does, but neither have a finger feed gouge in ST.
My two VAM 58s do not exhibit beveling above S or feed finger gouge at T.

Re: 1964 Canada Dollar

1964 missing dot after T resulted from a "filled die" according to "A Charlton Standard Catalogue" of "Canadian Coins" Volume One Numismatic Issues 2012 66th Edition W. K. Cross page 327. A filled die where debris has clogged an incuse device is a random occurrence. The mintage of a specific clogged...
