Looks like 75 degrees CW with your alignment. If the obverse is aligned properly with the date horizontal, the rotation will be very close to 90 degrees CW. I have a 1889 O in VF+ with a full 90 degree CW rotated reverse.
Nice pick Tom !

Re: New Member with a Possible New VAM - 1922-P Peace Dollar - Extra Olive Branch?
You're welcome. Clashed dies are the specialty of Jason Cuvelier. Check out the spectacular clashed dies on the 1983 P Kennedy Half $ under "Site News" and "Top 25 Clashed Dies". It just so happens, I found several 1983 P Kennedy Half $ clashed die specimens searching bank rolls about twenty years a...

Re: New Member with a Possible New VAM - 1922-P Peace Dollar - Extra Olive Branch?
Thanks everyone, been collecting 40 years myself. I have never seen a die clash overrun <over> one ray detail and then subduct <under> the next ray a few millimeters apart as these do. Any ideas how this specifically happens if truly a clash? Most every Peace DCR's I have seen has been the "Shoulde...

Check the listing of the collar clash 1922-P Collar clashes occur when hammer die is vertically misaligned (tilted) and contacts the top edge of the collar die. The collar die is notched at regular intervals in order to form reeded edge. A collar clash transfers the notched edge impression onto the...

Re: One Cool Mint Error
I would be in on the PMD side. The "damage" clearly happened AFTER the coin was struck (on a strike thru you do not have the details from the die in the strike thru - the details are struck ON the obstruction). Item -- I posted a 1976 copper nickel IKE dollar on this forum PCGS MS 63 Mint Error 20%...

Re: One Cool Mint Error
A metal shard caused the obverse strike thru because die design was transferred onto the coin's depressed surface. Typically, a coin metal shard (silver) is the culprit when design transfer is this complete. The reverse strike thru shows the much more common type of debris clogged devices that appea...
