Re: 1924-P: How would you attribute this Rim?
VAM 2A. The coin is worn enough that the doubling is difficult to see.

Re: I know, Darkside dementia.
It's a B2 reverse. I agree w/ Jody that it is heavily clashed w/ heavy polishing marks. Most likely it is a later die state (after polishing) of a listed clash such as VAM 2AV or 2BS. I don't see a letter transfer, so would be reluctant to list it other than VAM 2. Hope this is helpful, welcome aboa...

Re: 1924-P: How would you attribute this Rim?
For 1921 Peace dollars, the mint was experimenting with which die should be the hammer die. The 1921 VAM 1F2 has a collar clash on the reverse, whereas the VAM 1K2 and VAM 1AC have the collar clash on the obverse.
On all later dates, collar clashes occur on the reverse.

Re: Registering finds in the 'wild' versus bought attributed coins?
Most of mine in the Registry are "NAOH", & nearly all of mine in inventory were found "in the wild".
I am gradually getting the VAM attributions placed on the holder, at least w/ VSS stickers, but I am in no hurry, & have no inclination to pay a TPG to reholder a coin just for attribution.

Re: 1922-D new die cracks
I have not seen this before. If there is displacement across the die crack, then it would be listable, but I would have to be able to photograph the displacement.

Re: 1922-D VAM 2BN
I examined both of my VAM 2BNs, I was able to see remnant of the file lines of VAM 2Ao on the obverse, I was unable to see any remnant of file lines on the reverse. Neither obverse nor reverse had been clashed, and I know of no other die markers for the VAM 2Ao reverse. Neither die the VAM 2BN have ...

Re: 1922-D VAM 2BN
Good observation, Tom. It appears that VAM 2Ao is EDS of VAM 2BN. I will need to look at my coins (hopefully this weekend) to be sure that they share the same obv & rev dies. If they do, then a revision is in order.

Peace VAM update Q1 2022
I have several changes to make, with some photos, so I will do this in 2 posts VAM kills Q1 2022 1922 VAM 60 same as VAM 2BW2 – thanks to Adam Sutton. I agree with jfaust. I have not seen this before, so it would be listable, for the overpolished neck feathers, but I would need to see the coin first.

Re: 1923-P Over Polished
I have seen quite a few "file lines" varieties in 1922 & 1923. Given that there are so many, and some of these are a die state of other varieties, I would want to hold off on listing any for now. I don't want to see these become as some of the "scribble lines" varieties in Morgans, being a huge numb...

Re: 1923 VAM 1AE Extra Hair
All of the VAM 1AEs that I have seen so far have the die break at neck point, Leroy mentioned this possibility when he gave the listing of VAM 1AE2. The other feature under consideration is the die gouge under GOD, of which I have included a photo. Has anyone seen this w/o the die break(s)? I believ...
