Re: TPG SERVICE FEES
I used to use SEGS only for the listed counterfeit Morgan dollars. Probably have not considered them in a long time, even when Larry still owned it. ICG is good for getting Potty dollars (defaced Trade dollars, like Hobo Nickels) graded and slabbed and they have been quite fast in my experience.

And they were all probably dated 1803 (BB-255).

Re: 2021 counter-stamp Peace $
The counterstamped antiqued ones were the circulated release and the best would be AU58, which is what I got on that one. The other two releases of this were (1) overstruck on a 1921 Peace dollar, not counterstamp (100 minted, limit 1 per person, top grade MS70, which is what I got) and (2) the bulk...

Re: O/T Hiccup in the ASE registry
This is splitting hairs on unrelated issues. The Registry has -W and -(W) accommodations for BU strikes. Regardless of the burnished label, they are both there. We can add or drop "burnished" there, but it shouldn't make any difference. They are distinct for each year. West Point minted non-proof si...

Re: O/T Hiccup in the ASE registry
Oh, I know what you are getting at. Those were all in. I was then informed that all of the (W) BU strikes were burnished, regardless of how they were tagged. So the two groups were consolidated into one for each date and the duplicate deleted. So, whether it says burnished or not, just put 2011-(W),...

Re: O/T Hiccup in the ASE registry
If we are missing any, we will add them. They would be distinct. The vanity labels are a distraction though. I tried to align scoring for them with populations and the market. That can be revisited. The 69 to 70 valuation jump has structurally been accommodated. I only did for the fist several years...

Re: O/T 2023 Reverse proof Pre order
Picked my box (of 5 sets) up yesterday. Will flip to PCGS to pick up at FUN. If I get enough 70s, I might submit a couple sets (then graded) there to get dual holders to pick up at Long Beach.

Re: O/T Hiccup in the ASE registry
Did the code and did basic testing. Updated for 1986 (MS) and 1986-S (PF) silver eagles. They look good. Now it is just a matter of doing the factors for the other dates. I will try to do those over the course of the day or weekend. This is a good improvement for those two modern series. Need to add...

Re: O/T Hiccup in the ASE registry
Even the step up for proofs from 69 and 70 is not aligned with valuation step ups. One thing that might work is to add a 70 factor to the scoring for some Ikes and ASEs. I will probably do that to correct the disparity. Just a matter of having a little time to identify where all the scoring algorith...

Re: O/T Hiccup in the ASE registry
I released all of my silver eagles, except one, at least a year ago. I had all 70s in the completion end except for 1995-W (a 69 and a 68). But I do see the scoring issue. The one issue is the DCAM multiplier. We know that the regular proofs are all DCAM. The other issue is due to the eventual scori...

Re: 1891 VAM 9?
Maybe VAM-8. The doubling on that one can be subtle, especially in lower grades.
VAM-9 could involve multiple dies. I think I discovered the VAM-9B, which is clearly not the same die pair as VAM-9A, for instance.

Re: O/T 2023 Reverse proof Pre order
I do dislike the fact that there is a favoritism in Grading to the Big Boys, they never seem to have a 67-68-69. If you watch the TPG POP reports from start to current, there is large increase in lower grades only after time goes on. Seems odd. My understanding is the power submitters only get 70 g...

Re: Sleeper Set
If I'm following the jist of JC's OP one I would suggest from my short discovery list is the 1901-O VAM-36a. It's a strong clasher in a series that features some strong clashers (so there are eyes on them looking for clashing), yet I'm not aware of a second example coming to light in over a decade....

My five sets are processing too. I guess I will hold off on sending my box of submissions in until that order arrives.

Re: Sleeper Set
I don't want to say how many to pick. I'd rather you come up with a list of cuds, rank them by impressiveness, then we'll figure out where to draw a line. As was mentioned earlier, the "cud city" slot in the Wow list is a good place to start. Exactly. Just propose candidates. Might be something to ...

Re: Additions to the SSDC Registry
I added them and updated the sets. There were two VAM-2K without links or images. They are now VAM-2K1. The respective owners will need to determine if they are later die states and, if so, change their attributions and rebuild their 1922-S sets.

Re: Sleeper Set
I am actually surprised that we do not yet have a cud set, completable or not. I wish we had noticed the Hot Lips cud state earlier. At this point, we have so many (the most registered VAM) registered, that it is impractical to revisit them all to see which are that state. It would be interesting to...
