Re: PCGS 2021 pops keep going up

The 21-D will be the king of the release. Has some messed up strikes too. Can't wait to see my grades and TrueViews. Didn't look at any of them before submission. Just dropped them off.

I will be at FUN, and can examine them there.
Then I will bring them. See you there!

Re: Meet your new Official Attributors

So your VARslabs should increase in volume significantly, with the already slabbed reverse labeled. My presumption is that JR will do his as part of the grading process and would simply add the attribution to the labels, and would do the honors of easily transferring the discovery provenance of your...

Re: OT - Another Major Silver Dollar Rarity

C-1 and C2 look an awful lot alike, and C-4 is just funny! They are VERY close upon initial inspection. The tilts of the Cs and other die markers differentiate them. The easy discriminator is where the first C is relative to the lower serif of the S in GRAINS. C-1: Large CC set slightly right, slan...

OT - Another Major Silver Dollar Rarity

In a graded PCGS VF35 holder. AFAIK, there are only 9 graded 1878-CC chopmarked Trade dollars, and a couple more apparently out there. The date itself has only 4 die pairs. They are in my upcoming variety book and are most easily discriminated based on the mint mark positions. Of the nine certified,...

Some of those look very familiar. I must have sold my 1AJ as I do not see it around to examine.

So, Dennis, when did you sneak over to the Denver ones?

Peace Potential Discoveries

I have a number of likely unlisted Peace dollars that I have been meaning to send to Leroy. But I just don't have the time to get them out and expect them back before he takes his annual VAM update break. Any serious darksiders planning to be at FUN to take the time to go through and confirm them an...

Nice! the VAM-27 is tough in Mint State to begin with. Never saw a PL before of that one. Very cool.

Re: Ssdc awards approaching

OT a little, but I thought I would pass along that we crossed the 60,000 coin registration milestone yesterday afternoon. The 60,000th registration was a Morgan 1902-O VAM-33 NGC 63, registered by Gary B. It has grown a lot since April, 2011.

Re: Explaination for handling and reissue of reverse dies

Carson City reused their Trade dollar reverse dies for many years. It is actually pretty crazy. Also happened, to a lesser extent, in San Francisco.

Re: 2022 Proof Morgan's and Peace Dollars

Striking 90% silver would be best. Maybe even cooler would be to strike them on the current clad alloy planchets and sell them for a buck each as pseudo-circulating currency. Would be fun to spend them.

Wrecked a Top 50 Peace Dollar

Had a raw Ch BU 1923-S VAM-1C and decided to send it to Dan Carr along with a BU 1922 Peace, a 1972-D Ike, and a Morgan below PO1 (date was gone) to overstrike for his annual Moonlight Mint Open House. He kindly struck the 1C so that the pitted N/ONE was still there. Very late state of the dies too....

No 1885-CC would correctly be in the same submission as an 1895. Hope the submitter wasn't taken to the cleaners on the coin purchase.
