Re: Registry These Days

I asked the provider to give some priority to my circuit on the router, since I am paying commercial rates for it and voluntarily asked they share it with a lot of neighbors at no cost for their quarantine comfort. Might get bumpy now and then at peak times, but seems relatively smooth now. I was qu...

Re: Is your 1889-P VAM 22 clashed?

Sure it is not a misattributed 19A? Yes. I double-checked before posting... no crack at the date and 3 full denticles of space between the point of the neck and the first 1 in the date. I sold one or two on eBay within the past month and will look at my detailed pics later. I might have noted an ad...

Re: Registry These Days

A full mobile and app transition is definitely on the back burner. I will see if I can do a cascading menu javascript thing That would help a lot. I have no access to my library right now, but online resources usually are pretty good.

Re: Leroy Van Allen

Can you give him a short call to make sure they are okay and let him know the community has them both in mind and send all the best wishes? If that is a comfortable thing to do of course.

Re: Who else is growing a Quarantine Beard?...

I think it is just cool seeing the mugs for folks I know but never met and others whom I have not seen in ages. You all suddenly become real people.

Re: Registry These Days

Thanks to the entire community. Always bear in mind that the Registry is useless without the data that we all provide. I see a lot more activity since folks are largely home and idle. That's great. One thing fogie and I have done a lot of for the early dollars and Lafayettes is comb through auction ...

Leroy Van Allen - Doing well

Has anyone been in contact with LVA? He and his wife are certainly in the vulnerable class in this pandemic. WOuld be nice to take a pulse and make sure he is okay. He might also just appreciate the contact.

Registry These Days

Just a few notes. Due to the extraordinary situation, the circuit I am on is being shared with a lot of local residential customers to spread the load out, so they can be more comfortable staying at home. Many will stream a lot of content and might give an access hiccup now and then. Nothing particu...

Guess who the Mystery VAMmer is:

1. A roadie for ZZ Top.
2. An on-the-run rabbi.
3. An Ernest Hemingway cosplayer.
4. An extra from "Deliverance".
5. "Sonoma" set owner Tim Cannard.
All of the above, you mad man.

Re: Who else is growing a Quarantine Beard?...

Not a huge thing. Not recently trimmed, but I have only shaved it off once in about 40 years.

Re: PCGS Offices are Closed

They should just take down the online submission form and notify that they will not be accepting new submission mailings. Just complete those in process for now. Over the next couple weeks, things are likely to rapidly change and it is pretty certain there will be a shelter in place order, preventin...

Re: 1922 Peace?

The ones I have looked at seem to have it almost like a doubled neck, a bit different. But you know Peace dollars. Got a whole lot more in the old Leroy box. I suspect most (like the 27-S 1B and 1K) are now already listed. They are nice enough to probably add to an ANACS submission sometime. Glad I ...

Re: 1922 Peace?

Looked at it carefully, as I know that toning variation can be deceiving. It is definitely raised. The planchet lamination is over by the E dot P and very difficult to image. The gouge with a loupe catches the edge lighting as expected of any raised device on the coin. Found I have a nice 1927-S VAM...

1922 Peace?

Going through a boxful of dollars I never got around to send to Leroy. I figured most of them would have been "discovered" by now. But here is one I have yet to place. There is a notable, thick gouge between the eagle's neck and lower beak. The front of the hair is broken and beveled. A few other sm...
