Re: O/T or NOT, I NEED SOME ECON 101
Additionally, there is no way we could collateralize our money supply today with PMs or any other commodities. And money really shouldn't be a store of wealth but a means to facilitate multilateral trade (as opposed to "I'll trade you a gross of eggs for a bushel of wheat" primitive bilateral trade)...

That's one of those with a strong potential for a phantom M too. Might be a real one; those are buggers to image sometimes.

Re: 1878-S Top 30 Complete Set
It is more of a situation of functionality. While it is possible one might resurrect, it is less likely than a new one is discovered that is not yet listed. Should one come to fore, we can always add it. An general policy with the Registry is to catalogue and insert into sets varieties that are supp...

Watching for it. Don't see it on the website yet.
I have been steadily cataloguing the die varieties of the series.

We killed the VAM-2 in the Registry too. The remaining two were changed to unattributed 1878-S.

Can move the three to unattributed 1878-S, but will give time, I guess, for each to review their coins.

Nuked VAM-12 in the Registry too.
VAM-2 remains for now as three people still have them registered (Pete, Tim, and Rob I think).

I should send the unlisted Peace dollars to him. The Morgans I just send to an amigo here who wants them anyway. Getting the discovery credit is not a big deal anymore for me.

Nuked the VAM-11 in the Registry a while ago. I think the VAM-12 should also go, but some consensus among those who study the date more intimately than I do should come first.

Once it is all shaken out a good unhardened die set might be a compelling Registry addition.vamsterdam wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 5:55 pmthere is another 1889o reverse die that shows lack of proper hardening. it is possible that these were all made at the same time.

Ah, yes. I meant 11 and 12, not 10 and 11. Anyone have a convincing case for 12? I will drop VAM-11, but would like to do VAM-12 at the same time if appropriate.

Re: 1878-S Top 30 Complete Set
Great, but why add 78-s Vam 11 that Doesn’t exist? I was the person who brought back from the dead and reincarnated the 78-S Vam 10 Easy enough to drop that from the set. The bigger question is whether we should drop 10 and 11 from the Registry. There are a number of still listed VAMs that we have ...

1878-S Top 30 Complete Set
It was requested that we run a complete version of this set at the SSDC Registry. I immediately set it up then. That was a few days ago (the 3rd). Added it to the MOTD for the Registry after that. I am thinking people just are unaware. So if you are among those who wanted this set, it is there in th...

What is the composition of that 51-coin set? Never had that book on my shelf, like most others. There are 96 dates alone. Just one of each year (except 1921) and all of the proofs?

I am aware that I am severely culturally deprived. Never had heard of these before and had to look them up. Interesting but surprised the grading service that used to say they wouldn't grade and slab a US coin dated after 1964 would be holdering these. Kind of cool though. https://corporate.mcdonald...

Re: ANA, Will it survive?
I agree with you, Roger. When mine lapsed (the only membership I didn't get as a lifetime one), I questioned myself as to what it offered. The only thing that justified renewals was the ability to set up at ANA shows. Like Sears coming too late to the online marketplace, the ANA missed the boat in a...

It appears to be the UPS. Everything is on a power strip right now. I am going to see if Costco has a $100 or so UPS in the warehouse and swap it out later today hopefully.
