Re: ANACS grade results

I have had a few of those fishies before. But it will be delivered at LB anyway. If I take the DInoLite set up (probably), can image it there.

Re: Die Studies

1900-S? I have looked for that 3A for decades. I do not believe that (S/hor S) is the product of a reverse die, but the coin is out there in the wild somewhere. Remember when the Impaled Eagle turned up on eBay? But I digress.

All fixed now. And I noticed my submission got done barely in time for them to deliver it to Long Beach this week.

Re: Die Studies

LVA and AGM had no idea their Encyclopaedia would garner such detailed interest when they began listing varieties. Had the goal been to catalogue every distinct die pair and significant die state, they likely would not have bothered starting it. There was no audience for that for Morgan and Peace do...

Re: SSDC Awards page

Would be nice if we can track down photos or video frame grabs for the winners of the award where they exist. I think we have a lot of them going pretty far back, where the winner was present of course.

Re: ANACS grade results

Got mine today. I was only going to submit the Dan Carr overstrike originally. (MS65 isa high grade for that as it was a bag handled release.) But I won one of the free grading certificates and grabbed a handful of raw coins I happened to have with me. ANACS-FUN2020sub.jpg Dennis would not find it t...

Re: Die Studies

I think someone identified it as a 7. All the more reason to do a die study. I started one years back and got distracted. Only contributions I made to the listings, I believe, is 6, 6A, 6B, 6C, 6D. I seem to recall seeing an obverse that appeared to match that used also on the 13 or possibly a diffe...

Re: Die Studies

Not addressing the post exactly, but here is an 88-S that has a reverse that is not listed. S is set and tilted left, a reverse die class that is not represented in the listings. https://coins.ha.com/itm/morgan-dollars/silver-and-related-dollars/1888-s-1-ms64-pcgs-cac-pcgs-population-1559-374-ngc-ce...

ANACS Logins Still Down -- FIXED

Been down, I believe, since Friday. The page does not indicate a bad login username or password, but it just comes back as not logged in. Can't check on orders.

Brent was updating the Registry. I augmented the effort to get all the right sets updated to include it. It should be fully and properly represented now.

Re: ANACS order status question

Hmm. I just logged into the ANACS site on different browsers even, and it does not seem to present a logged in page where I can check on my submission. Something buggy on the site I think. It does not indicate an incorrect login or password though.

Re: SALES TAX

I have sold a few coins on the bay where sales tax was collected. I agree with Scott that this will hurt sales. I got a low offer and explained I had grading costs plus ebay/paypal fees as well as shipping went up higher than I was collecting. He came back with he had to pay sales tax. Fyi, its typ...

Re: SALES TAX

I have always charged sales tax to lots delivered to California customers and reported the tax, by appropriately adjusting sales prices for California shows to non-resale (non-dealer) buyers under the $1500 (formerly $1000) threshold. it's the law. Whether i like it or not, I follow it. We have folk...

Re: Were silver dollars "as good as gold?"

What is an expensive half eagle? 1854-S? I don't know. Have not done gold in ages. But that $2M coin would easily be eclipsed by four 1804 bust dollars and an 1878 VAM-215.

Re: Help with a couple 1886 VAMs

First is easy. VAM-6 LDS. Remarkably common in the highest grades. But if you can see the clash letter transfers still, it is VAM-6B. The second? Not the VAM-21, but look closely at the the obverse designer's initial and the minor hair vee above 86. Might be something going on: gouge, MPD, or nothin...

Re: 1900-O Morgan, lots of die cracks, hard to find a matching VAM.

Looks familiar. Might be one of the VAM-21 die pairs, but not one of the lsited subvarieties (21A, 21C, ...).
