I had not heard the growths called burls before. I had always thought they were a form of cancer, as the look like abnormal cell growth. i am pretty certain that i have a vam 4b. it has a c4 reverse, and matches from memory. i sent it off to be graded today so there was no way to do a side-by-side comparison.

since i do not have any vam 2's to study, i will ask others to examine theirs to look for common or differing die markers, no matter how tiny they are. i have practiced this on 1879s, and 1878 8tf for years.

i have not studied vam 3 reverses enough to prove one way or the other but could any of these be different stages of the other with a different polishing line at trust? ie-a similar polishing scratch due to a repeating phenomena? could the original polishing line have been polished off, or worn off ...

these new dollars are soo bland. even the peace dollars. no pl, or dmpl's, so uniformly hubbed, and many details are soft. i don't care for them, especially the look of the privy makrs.

I have had several monster clashes from 1812, 1814, and 1814 where liberty shows in side and outside of the shield. I think i have two left.
