Re: New (neat) 79s v107 for the stash...

I really didn’t want to pay a premium for a very average full roll of v107a’s. It was kinda odd to see all twenty coins rom the same die and die state.

Re: New (neat) 79s v107 for the stash...

It was kinda hard to part with this one because i liked the coin and the slab but i have others. I saw an entire roll of v107a at the show last week.

Re: For the dark siders

In spite of the fact that so many peace dollar collectors abandoned the market, there are so many spectacular vams in the series. The doubled dies and die breaks easily rival those of the morgans, although their survival rate is much higher(which makes them more readily available for lots of people).

Re: Tone removing help

And the darker the toning, the more the damage to the surfaces will show after you dip it. My friend ron dipped a 1943s ddo 25 graded anacs65. It started developing large charcoal spots(the old white holders were not exactly air tight), and he called me to say he was going to crack it out and dip it...

Re: what caused this?

I see this often on 1880-82s dollars. I see it as a combination of metal expansion towards the collar, the dies coming apart too slowly, while the coin is being ejected. I may have part of my sequence out of order but it is obvious that the metal is being “smeared” or pushed outward on the highest p...

Re: Morgan Grading Question

Funny how mercury dimes, standing liberty quarters and jefferson nickels don’t take strike into account but morgans get hammered for the strike. If this were graded like a jefferson or mercury, it would grade at least 66. But since it is a morgan, i guess it can only grade 64. The marks are small an...

A few of my favorites on there. I still have only found 1 1903o v22, and have looked at lots of 03o’s. Same for that stinking vam45a.

Re: What's Going on at the FUN?

One of the busiest, man st stressful shows that i have ever attended. I was so busy on Thursday that i wanted to run to the bathroom and hide. Friday was even worse. Trying to finish up 5 pcgs and 2 Ngc submissions while trying to get 2 vss submissions dropped off while dealing with the never ending...

Re: What's your favorite acquisition of 2019?

a new 1879s r78 that Leroy shot down twice as a vam 67, even though he admitted that he could not see any of the vam 67 markers. it sits at anacs, waiting and waiting for JR to see it. I may update this. also found another sue of the 1879s v66 obverse, which appears to be struck before vam 66 and 86...
