Re: HUGE bargain at Heritage last night

I think the biggest problem with this listing is that it was a Wednesday weekly auction vs a VAM specific auction. The coin was only on HA for a little over a week with very limited visibility. I am confident the results would have been different in a VAM specific auction.

Re: 4 pretty rare VAMs up for sale on eBay

I would have pulled the trigger on the VAM-188 if it was in a PCGS holder. I have had terrible luck trying to cross ANACS to PCGS..

Re: How TPG's fudge turnaround times

My last membership 8 free "regular" grades at PCGS took 80 days. They were logged in a timely matter, just a couple of days before they were "received". Site says 40 days for regular. So much for their posted turn around times.

If you can see clashed letters it's an 84A. If not it's an 84. I can't really tell from your pictures. I think I see a clashed E on the reverse but hard to tell.

Re: 1878 8TF VAM 18?

Looks like a VAM-19. VAM-19 has gouges in the O in ONE on the reverse and is missing a lower left (viewers right) wing feather. See attachments.

Re: Selling 151 Vams

The 1878s got some really strong bids so I won zero coins last night. Even coins I thought were fairly common still sold above what I was willing to bid. Great night to be a seller!

Re: 8TF grading set fully imaged with Trueviews

Truly Excellent. The mind bends at the work to create this, as well as all of the stories made and bought by those super circulated dollars. How many years did it take to create the set, as a guess? I would guess 5 years? I've had the set completed for about 1.5 years and picked up the PO01 in 2016...

Re: 8TF grading set fully imaged with Trueviews

Nice set Mark! Which was the last grade coin you acquired? By the way, the + grade circ. coins are VERY difficult to locate, except the 58+ which just tends to be expensive as all get-out because they always seem to be expensive dates. Technically it was a VF20 for this set. I had one and accidenta...

8TF grading set fully imaged with Trueviews

Finally have the whole set fully imaged so thought I would share. PCGS seems to be having an issue with digital album photos showing up so added three links, one for the digital album, one for the image gallery and the public showcase link. Currently just whole grades, no plus +, but might add some ...

Re: did someone find a roll of those?

UPDATES: • 4 more PLs sold on eBay last night (two auctions, two coins per auction). • There have also been two Unc. details coins sold on eBay. • Of the 29 coins on eBay, one dealer accounts for 26 of them. This same seller has been selling VAM-23s for many years. I got my DMPL VAM-23 from this se...

Low balls that would make a bunny blush

I'm a sucker for junk.. These were unattributed picks from ebay. VAM-9 VF20 - addition to my VAM-9 grading set https://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/collectors-showcase/grading-sets/1878-vam-9-grading-set/14768 VAM-9 Grading Set.jpg VAM-14.16 G04 solo lowest VAM-170 AG03 solo lowest Low ball grades.jpg

Re: Just picked on Heritage

What vam is it? Hey Bert, yes it's a VAM-115. Left the VAM out to make the post more interesting. :D The main markers would be the doubled Liberty and line in the top of T in Liberty. Also the leaves and cap doubling and tripling. On the reverse the hub defect above the arrow feathers. 8-) Thanks f...

Re: 1878P PL Vam 80B? No rev lines.

VAM-80. Per the VAM-80 page:

Most coins attributed as VAM 80 are now VAM 80B. A true VAM 80 has very few reverse cracks and no polishing lines, and is scarce.

*The pictures haven't been updated on the VAM-80 page.

Just picked on Heritage

Just won this coin on HA tonight. First time I've picked one in MS. Had to pay up big time for my PCGS MS62. Looks like others missed this one. Only 8 in graded MS at PCGS, with 4 graded higher. Only 5 MS at NGC and just 3 higher. 8-)
